Geertruida Catharina "Truus" de Koning-Dijkstra (born 24 February 1951 in Buitenpost) is a Dutch former long track speed skater, specialized in sprinting. She was active from 1969 to 1976. [1]

De Koning-Dijkstra represented her nation at the World Allround Speed Skating Championships for Women in 1974, finishing 12th overall and also at the World Sprint Speed Skating Championships for Women in 1974, finishing 12th overall. [2] [3] [4] She also competed at the European Speed Skating Championships for Women in 1974, finishing 6th overall.

In 1971, 1972 and 1973 she became Dutch National Kortebaan Speed Skating Champion. [5] Between 1969 and 1976 she competed seven times at the Dutch Allround Championships, finishing 4th in 1974. [4]

Truus was born in Buitenpost. Several people in her family are speed skaters. When she was 22 years old, she married Jacques de Koning from Purmerend. Their son Jacques de Koning is a former speed skating sprinter. [7]

Coen de Koning

Coen de Koning was a speed skater and cyclist. He started his sports career as a cyclist, but switched to speed skating and became the second Dutch speed skater to win a world title, in 1905. He finished second in 500 m, and won the 1500, 5000 and 10,000 m events. De Koning won the national all-around title in 1903, 1905 and 1912, and set national records in the 500 m and 10,000 m in 1905; these records stood until 1926 and 1929. De Koning also set a world record in one-hour skating, at 32,370 m in 1906, and won the Elfstedentocht in 1912 and 1917.
