Tsai Ah-hsin (Chinese :蔡阿信; Pe̍h-ōe-jī :Chhoà A-sìn; 1899–1990) was colonial Taiwan's first female physician. [1] [2] She graduated from the Tokyo Women's Medical College in 1921 and then completed her residency at the Taihoku Hospital in Japanese Taiwan. [2] In 1924, Tsai married Taiwan independence activist Peng Hua-ying. [3] She founded her own hospital at Taichu in 1925. [2] She created a seminar to train midwives in obstetrics, which was made part of her hospital. [2] However, she had to end the seminar in 1938 as the Japanese, who had invaded northern China in 1937, came to her seminar and forced some of the students to work for them as nurses on the front lines. [2]

Pe̍h-ōe-jī romanization system of Min Nan Chinese

Pe̍h-ōe-jī is an orthography used to write variants of Southern Min Chinese, particularly Taiwanese Hokkien and Amoy Hokkien. Developed by Western missionaries working among the Chinese diaspora in Southeast Asia in the 19th century and refined by missionaries working in Xiamen and Tainan, it uses a modified Latin alphabet and some diacritics to represent the spoken language. After initial success in Fujian, POJ became most widespread in Taiwan and, in the mid-20th century, there were over 100,000 people literate in POJ. A large amount of printed material, religious and secular, has been produced in the script, including Taiwan's first newspaper, the Taiwan Church News.

The Golden Bell Awards is an annual Taiwanese television production award presented in October or November each year by the Bureau of Audiovisual and Music Industry Development, a division of Taiwan's Ministry of Culture. It is the first television production award in Chinese circulation, founded in 1965, and Taiwan's equivalent to the Emmy Awards. It is also one of the three major annual awards presented in Taiwan, along with the Golden Melody Awards for music and the Golden Horse Film Festival and Awards for movies and films. The awards were presented by the Government Information Office until 2011.

Production was done by Tsai with Razor Chiang, Starr Chen, Howe Chen, and OZI, alongside a variety of collaborators including Rhys Fletcher, Richard Craker, Hayley Aitken, Jeff Bova, and Alex Sypes. Musically, it is a pop record which merges a series of genres such as trap, house, reggae, and gothic rock. Thematically, it tends to break through the traditional aesthetic criterion and explore the bipolarity of human feeling.
