Guadalupe Rivera Saavedra, better known by the stage name Lupillo Rivera, is an American singer and songwriter. In 2010, Rivera was awarded a Grammy Award for his album, Tu Esclavo y Amo. His older sister was the late singer and actress Jenni Rivera. In 2019, he was one of the coaches for the first season of the Mexican singing competition show, La Voz on TV Azteca after being acquired from Televisa after 7 seasons.

Leopoldo Dante Tévez, known as Leo Dan, is an Argentine composer and singer born in Villa Atamisqui, Santiago del Estero Province. He recorded more than 20 albums during his long career during the late 20th century between Argentina and Mexico. His appreciation for Mexican music led him to record with mariachis, and from there, he went to international fame. His music was well received by the Mexican public since his voice was a good match to the traditional mariachi sound.

"Esclavo y amo" is a song written by Mexican songwriter José Vaca Flores and originally recorded by Ranchera singer Javier Solís for his 1962 album El Peor De Los Caminos. The song, which was Vaca Flores' first hit as a songwriter and also became one of Solis' most emblematic songs, would eventually become an standard of the Mexican popular repertoire.
