Tuff Crew is a hip hop group from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, dubbed "Philly's first Rap Supergroup". [1] Members include Ice Dog, L. A. Kid, Tone Love, and DJ Too Tuff. [2]
They released four albums. Their joint debut LP with The Krown Rulers from Camden, New Jersey included production by the Ultramagnetic MCs' Kool Keith and Ced Gee, with a style that was bass-heavy with the Roland TR-808 drum machine and E-mu SP-12 sampler, raw "street" lyrics and aggressive scratch DJing. They performed with Public Enemy, Run–D.M.C., Biz Markie, Big Daddy Kane, Rob Base and DJ E-Z Rock, LL Cool J, and many others. They toured the US as the support act for 2Live Crew, and were fan favorites on the groundbreaking Street Beat radio program on Power 99, hosted by Lady B. They were racially mixed and ethnically diverse, and were regular performers at the After Midnight club in North Philly, once the largest Hip-Hop club in America. Their contemporaries included DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince, DJ Cash Money and Marvelous, Cool C, Schoolly D, MC Breeze, and Three Times Dope.
During the recording of their fourth album "Still Dangerous", the group was joined by Smooth K and DJ Cutzology. Members Tone Love & DJ Too Tuff were absent during this 1991 recording working on outside project Danger Zone Mobb Sqwad.
DJ Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince were an American hip hop duo from West Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, consisting of rapper Will Smith and disc jockey Jeff Townes. Active full time from 1986 to 1994 and occasionally thereafter, they scored a string of lighthearted, inoffensive, and humorous hit singles.

EPMD is an American hip hop duo from Brentwood, New York. The duo's name is a concatenation of the members' names "E" and "PMD" or an acronym for "Erick and Parrish Making Dollars", referencing its members: emcees Erick Sermon and Parrish Smith. During an interview on college radio station WHOV in 1987, Parrish Smith stated that the name evolved from the original: "We were originally known as "EEPMD", but chose to go with EPMD because it was easier to say." He also stated that they dropped the two "E's" because N.W.A.'s Eric Wright was already using "Eazy-E" as his stage name. The group has been active for 34 years, and is one of the most prominent acts in east coast hip hop.

The Krown Rulers are an American Hip Hop group once well known in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Camden, New Jersey. The duo was made up of DJ Royal Rocker and MC Grand Pubah. They were discovered and signed to Soo Deff Records by DJ Too Tuff of Tuff Crew and appeared on the Tuff Crew PHANJAM album co/produced by Ced G of Ultramagnetic MCs and Tuff Crew in 1987. They were from Camden. They flourished in the 1980s, releasing the LP "Paper Chase" on the Warlock label in 1988. Two of their hits were "B-Boy Document" and "Kick the Ball." The album was unusual in having a medieval theme in the cover art, showing two musicians in armor. In 1996, after an 8-year hiatus, they released their second LP, "Back On The Throne". A vinyl pressing was available in limited amounts. After 1996, a few scattered singles were made, a few of which are available on YouTube.
Ronald K. Keys Jr. aka DJ Swamp is an American hip hop DJ, turntablist, producer and vocalist. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio, United States. He currently resides in Los Angeles, United States. In 1996, he won the title of US DMC Champion, his first year entering the tournament. Swamp toured with Beck for four years and later broke away into a solo career with his release "Never is Now" in 2001. Alternative Press gave "Never is Now" an 8/10 rating.
Liberty Grooves was a hip hop record label and shop based in Tooting, South London and owned by Johnny F. It was most active during the 1990s, and the shop served as a performance venue as well. Records were released on this label by groups including Solid n Mind and Gutter Snypes, and the artist DJ Noize.
Gutter Snypes are a British hip hop group who formed in 1993. The group was composed of Cel One, Sigher and Prime Cuts. Previously the Cel One had recorded under the name Most Dominant for the Kold Sweat Records label, with DJ First Rate and DJ Renegade. Prior to this, Cel One and First Rate had been part of the First Down Crew in Kent.
Curtis Brown, better known by the stage name Grandmaster Caz or Casanova Fly, is an American rapper, songwriter, and DJ. The Brotherhood were a pioneering UK hip-hop group with a solid following across the UK from the early 1990s. Releases with seminal UK Hip Hop label Bite It! Recordings were followed by a later move to Virgin. The 1996 album Elementalz has been described as one of the best UK hip hop albums ever made and "a staggering achievement in British music". The band finally split in 1998 and have since been credited as one of the most influential bands on the 90s UK hip-hop scene.

Run-DMC is regarded as one of the most influential acts in the history of hip hop culture and one of the most famous hip hop acts of the 1980s. Along with Beastie Boys, LL Cool J and Public Enemy, the group pioneered new school hip hop music. The group was among the first to highlight the importance of the MC and DJ relationship.
