Tulsidas Mehta was an Indian politician,who served as Member of Bihar Legislative Assembly from Jandaha Assembly constituency. He won the 1990 Bihar Legislative Assembly election as a candidate of Janata Dal from this constituency. Mehta was a socialist politician,who also served as a minister in Government of Bihar. He is the father of another Bihar politician and former General Secretary of Rashtriya Janata Dal,Alok Kumar Mehta. [2] He was one of the founder of Rashtriya Janata Dal. [3] Mehta had represented Jandaha Assembly constituency multiple times,winning the Assembly elections of 1962,1969,1985,1990 and 1995.
Tulsidas Mehta was a socialist politician. He was associated initially with Socialist Party,on the ticket of which,he won his first state assembly elections in 1962. In 1969,after his second electoral victory in state assembly elections,he was made a minister of state in Government of Bihar. [4] Mehta won the Bihar Legislative Assembly elections of 1969,1985,1990 and 1995;he was appointed as cabinet minister in Government of Bihar for the first time in the cabinet of Karpoori Thakur in the year 1970. Mehta also served as cabinet minister twice in Lalu Prasad Yadav's cabinet. [5] Mehta was an accomplice of socialist leader Akshayawat Rai,who motivated him to contest the 1962 Bihar Legislative Assembly elections. According to Rashtriya Janata Dal leader,Shivanand Tiwari,Mehta hesitated to contest his first election on the advice of Rai,as he was unable to bear the expenses of the election. However,when the election campaign began,he was able to defeat his political rival Rajvanshi Singh,who was supported by Indian National Congress leader Deep Narayan Singh and was a chairman of Bihar Cooperative Federation. Mehta himself admitted in front of Shivanand Tiwari that he was able to win at minimal election expenses due to support of dedicated party workers,who campaigned for him without any fee. [6]
His son,Alok Kumar Mehta is also considered as a veteran politician of Rashtriya Janata Dal,having assumed several significant positions in the party. The Mehta family is reported to have considerable influence in the politics of Samastipur district and adjoining area. [7]
Mehta is also known for his work in cooperative sector. He was the founder of The Vaishali Cooperative Bank and Cooperative Cold Storage facility in state of Bihar. [8]
Mehta died in 2019 at an age of ninety three. His last rites were performed at Konhara Ghat in Hajipur. This event was attended by many notable Bihar politicians like Upendra Kushwaha,Tejashwi Yadav,Ramai Ram and Jagada Nand Singh. [9]

JD(U) heads the government in Bihar under Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and is also a member of the ruling government in Manipur. JD(U) won 16 seats in the 2019 Indian general election,making it the seventh largest party in the Lok Sabha.

Alok Kumar Mehta is an Indian politician from the state of Bihar. He is a founder member of Rashtriya Janata Dal and has served as Principal General Secretary of the party. Mehta is said to be political mentor of Tejashwi Yadav.

A trusted lieutenant of Nitish Kumar,Hassan had served as cabinet minister under Nitish before entering Lok Sabha. Hassan was part of Lalu Prasad Yadav’s RJD and served as minister under him too. After political disagreements with the chief minister Mr. Nitish Kumar,Mr. Hassan resigned from all positions of Janata Dal (United) on 28 May 2023. Mr. Hassan joined Rashtriya Lok Janata Dal on 18 September 2023 at the residence of Upendra Kushwaha at Patna with his supporters.
Shivanand Tiwari is a prominent politician from Bhojpur district,Bihar who was a member of the Janata Dal (United) political party,which he represented in the Rajya Sabha. First he was a prominent leader and spokesperson of Lalu Prasad Yadav's Rashtriya Janata Dal party. Later he was the General Secretary and spokesman for the JD (U). On 27 February 2014 he was denied renomination to Rajya Sabha,and expelled from the Nitish's Janata faction along with four other Lok Sabha members of the party. After his stint with Nitish's Janata Dal (U),he re-joined Lalu Prasad Yadav's RJD.

Upendra Kumar Singh,commonly known as Upendra Kushwaha is an Indian politician,and a former Member of Bihar Legislative Council and Bihar Legislative Assembly. He has also served as Minister of State for Human Resources and Development in the Government of India. Kushwaha is a former Member of Parliament (MP) from the Karakat constituency in Rohtas district,Bihar,and a former member of the Rajya Sabha. He was the leader of Rashtriya Samata Party (RSP),his own party,which merged into Janata Dal (United) (JDU) in 2009. Later,he formed Rashtriya Lok Samata Party (RLSP),which also merged with JD(U) in 2021. On 20 February 2023,Kushwaha resigned from all positions in Janata Dal (United) and formed his own party called Rashtriya Lok Morcha due to his political problems with JD(U) and Nitish Kumar.
Babu Jagdeo Prasad Kushwaha,alternatively spelled as Jagdev Prasad and popularly known as Jagdev Babu,was an Indian politician and a member of the Bihar Legislative Assembly who served as Bihar's deputy chief minister in 1968 for four days in the Satish Prasad Singh cabinet. A great socialist and a proponent of Arjak culture,he was the founder of Shoshit Dal and was a staunch antagonist and critic of India's caste system. He was nicknamed as the "Lenin of Bihar".

Jai Vardhan Yadav is an Indian politician. He was elected to the Bihar Legislative Assembly from Paliganj assembly. Yadav started his political career in 2005 from Raghopur assembly as a member of Indian National Congress party but lost. In 2015 he was elected Member of Bihar Legislative Assembly as a member of the Rashtriya Janata Dal. He is a grandson of Ram Lakhan Singh Yadav. He left the Rashtriya Janata Dal on 20 August 2020 and same day joined Janata Dal (United) in the presence of cabinet minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav.
Tulsi Singh Yadav also Known as Tulsi Singh is an Indian politician. He was elected to the Bihar Legislative Assembly from Karakaat as a member of the Samyukta Socialist Party and Janata Dal in 1967,1969,1980,1990 and 1995. In 2000,Yadav lost Bihar Legislative Assembly to Arun Singh as a member of Rashtriya Janata Dal. He contested 2009 Lok Sabha election from Karakat constituency as a member of Samajwadi Party but lost to Mahabali Singh. Yadav died on 4 November 2015.

In 2014,Samrat planned a split in Rashtriya Janata Dal by defecting thirteen MLAs as splinter group of the party,later joining the BJP. In 2022,he was selected as the Leader of Opposition in Bihar Legislative Council.

He was elected as the Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) three times in the Bihar Assembly elections of 1980,1985 and 1990.
Suryadev Singh is a former Indian politician based in Bihar,who was elected to Bihar Legislative Assembly twice from Bikramganj Assembly constituency of Rohtas district. He was first elected to Bihar Legislative Assembly as the candidate of Indian People's Front in 1990 Bihar Legislative Assembly election. Later,he defected to Rashtriya Janata Dal and in a run up to 1995 Bihar Legislative Assembly election,he was again elected to Bihar Legislative Assembly,this time,on the symbol of Rashtriya Janata Dal. Before his retirement from politics,following his conviction in a murder case,he was a member of Janata Dal (United). The Bikramganj Assembly constituency ceased to exist after 2005,after the delimitation of constituencies.
