Tum Yeto is a skateboard distribution company that operates out of San Diego, California, United States (U.S.).

History

Founded in 1989 [1] by former professional skateboarder, Tod Swank, [2] Tum Yeto manufactures, distributes, exports and wholesales the Foundation, Toy Machine, Pig Wheels, Dekline, Ruckus, and Habitat brands. [3] Tum Yeto were involved in a legal case resolved in 2009 which helped to clarify the law in England and Wales on the length of a "reasonable" period of notice. [4]

Foundation

Longtime Foundation team member, Corey Duffel, celebrated his 10-year anniversary as a Foundation sponsored rider in February 2013. The commemoration event was held at the headquarters of international skateboarding magazine, Transworld SKATEboarding, in Carlsbad, California, U.S. [5]

Taylor Smith was assigned professional status with Foundation in July 2014 and Smith was informed at a surprise party that was held in California, US. Swank and Duffel were in attendance at the surprise party, [6] and a video part titled "Tee Hee" was featured on the Thrasher magazine's website to coincide with the announcement. [7]

Habitat partnership

Following the 2014 closure of the DNA Distribution skateboard company, which distributed the Alien Workshop and Habitat brands, an announcement that the Habitat brand had joined the "Tum Yeto Collective" was published on July 8, 2014. The announcement was presented in the form of a 5-minute, 28-second-long video, featured on Tony Hawk's web-based "RIDE Channel", which was filmed and edited by Habitat cofounder Joe Castrucci. The text beneath the video states that the first Habitat products to be sold after the transition will be available during the American summer of 2014. [3] [8]

In an interview following the announcement, Habitat videographer Brennan Conroy explained the arrangement between the two companies:

They [Tum Yeto] didn’t buy us, they are just distributing Habitat. It’s all gonna be based on sales and how much we sell is how much we will make. They are gonna have to dig into their pockets for the initial cost of the production of the boards, which is a lot of money. But it’s gonna come down to, you guys sold 1000 boards, well, here’s your percent, and here’s what you can do with the money. [9]

Reynolds established Bakerboys Distribution with Erik Ellington and Jim Greco in 2007. Bakerboys Distribution provides distribution for closely related in-house skateboard companies such as Deathwish Skateboards and Shake Junt. He is also the head of design at Altamont Apparel. Reynolds primarily skates street. He has been called one of the most influential skaters of all time.

Jamie Thomas is an American professional skateboarder and skateboard industry entrepreneur. Thomas is the owner and founder of Zero Skateboards and Fallen Footwear, until he announced its closure in January 2017. Thomas' nickname in the skateboard industry is "The Chief".

Kerry Getz is an American professional skateboarder.

Zero Skateboards is a skateboard company located in Carlsbad, California, United States. The brand was founded by professional skateboarder and entrepreneur Jamie Thomas, and distributed by his Black Box Distribution company. In late June 2014, Thomas announced that the brand would be distributed by the Dwindle Distribution company, based in El Segundo, California. Subsequently, in 2016, Thomas and Dwindle announced that Zero Skateboards would be operated independently by Thomas.

Transworld Skateboarding (TWS) is an international magazine on skateboarding that was based in Carlsbad, California, United States. The publication also ran an accompanying website and video production company. In February 2019, the publishers of Transworld magazine, The Enthusiast Network, were purchased by American Media, Inc. In March 2019, the print edition of Transworld magazine was discontinued. It continues as a digital brand.

Alien Workshop (AWS) is an independent American skateboarding company that was founded in 1990 by Chris Carter, Mike Hill, and Neil Blender in Dayton, Ohio. Following periods under the ownership of the Burton snowboard company and original team rider Rob Dyrdek in 2012, the company was acquired by Pacific Vector Holdings in October 2013. Alien Workshop produced skateboard decks, wheels, apparel, and other skateboard accessories prior to its closure in May 2014. In 2015, Alien Workshop was revived with an all-amateur team and distribution through Tum Yeto. They released a series of new skate decks and Bunker Down, the brand's sixth video. As of 2016, Alien Workshop, led by Mike Hill phased out working with Tum-Yeto and moved all operations back to the Mound Laboratories in Miamisburg, Ohio. After a tumultuous ownership history they have returned to operations as an independent company.

Stevie Williams is a professional skateboarder who was included in the twenty-seventh position of the "30 Most Influential Skaters of All Time" list that was compiled by Transworld Skateboarding in late 2011.

Leo Romero is a professional skateboarder whose early skateboarding influences included Heath Kirchart, Jamie Thomas and Andrew Reynolds.

William Corey Duffel known as Corey Duffel, is a professional skateboarder from Walnut Creek, California.

Stefan Janoski is an American professional skateboarder, artist, writer and musician of Macedonian descent, who is well known for his signature Nike SB shoe model, the "Nike Zoom Stefan Janoski". Among followers of professional skateboarding, Janoski is known for his "switch-stance" skills and casual style.

In 2009, US-based Dwindle Distribution purchased the company from the Salomon Group. In November 2016, Dwindle announced that they would be discontinuing the brand.

Dirty Ghetto Kids (DGK) is an American skateboard company, producing skateboards and apparel. The brand is distributed by The Kayo Corp, a partnership that was established through Philadelphia professional skateboarder Stevie Williams and Troy Morgan of The Kayo Corp.
