Turkey Brook Park is located within Mount Olive Township, in Morris County, New Jersey on Flanders Road next to the Chester M. Stephens Elementary School.

Mount Olive Township is a township in Morris County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2010 United States Census, the township's population was 28,117, reflecting an increase of 3,924 (+16.2%) from the 24,193 counted in the 2000 Census, which had in turn increased by 2,911 (+13.7%) from the 21,282 counted in the 1990 Census.

Morris County is a county located in the U.S. state of New Jersey, about 25 mi (40 km) west of New York City. According to the 2010 United States Census, the population was 492,276, up from the 470,212 at the 2000 Census, As of the 2017 Census estimate, the county's population was 499,693, making it the state's 10th-most populous county, and marking a 1.5% increase from 2010. The county is part of the New York Metropolitan Area, and its county seat is Morristown. The most populous place was Parsippany-Troy Hills Township, with 53,238 residents at the time of the 2010 Census, while Rockaway Township covered 45.55 square miles (118.0 km²), the largest total area of any municipality.

Geography

Turkey Brook Park is 267 acres (1.08 km²) designed for passive recreation, local sports, walking, hiking and fishing. The Park is equipped with 1 full size turf and lighted Soccer field + 3 full size grass Soccer Fields, 2 Baseball Fields, 2 Softball Field, and 1 Football Field.^[1]

The Mount Olive Dog Park is located in Turkey Brook Park. It is approximately 2 acres (8,100 m²) with dedicated areas for small, large, and disabled dogs. The grand opening leash cutting ceremony was held October 21, 2007^[2]

History

The Seward Mansion is located at the entrance to Turkey Brook Park. The mansion was built in 1858 by Beulah and Henry Seward.^[3] The mansion had 9 large rooms, a grand staircase at its center, chandeliers, ornate mantels and a wrap-around porch. Architecturally, it is an example of 18th century stone construction in a mid-Victorian style.

The Seward Mansion is a historic house at 30 Flanders Road, in Turkey Brook Park, Mount Olive Township, Morris County, New Jersey. The mansion, described using its historic name, Seward House, was added to the National Register of Historic Places on December 24, 2013 for its significance in architecture. The farmhouse, built c. 1865, was the home of Henry Clay Seward, son of Henry Seward.

The building is currently undergoing renovation efforts by the Mount Olive Historical Society.
