Tyler Mason (born 15 November 1995) is a Jamaican sprinter who specialises in the 110 and 60m hurdles. [1]

Career

Junior career

Mason was a silver medalist at the 2014 World Junior Championships in Athletics in the 110 metres hurdles in Eugene, Oregon. His time of 13.05 seconds beat the Jamaican national junior record of Omar McLeod set the previous year. [2] In 2016, Mason won the bronze medal at the 2016 NACAC U23 Championships in Athletics in the 110 m hurdles, running 13.67 seconds to finish fourth on the day, later upgraded to a bronze medal after Puerto Rican race winner Will Barnes was disqualified due to a antidoping rules violation. Senior career

In July 2023, Mason finished fourth at the Jamaican Athletics Championships in Kingston in the 110 metres hurdles in 13.22 seconds. Shortly afterwards, he finished third at the Diamond League event in Silesia in 13.29 seconds. [5]

The following month, competing in Berne, Switzerland he ran a meet record 13.22 seconds to win the 110m hurdles event at the Citrus meeting at the Wankdorf Stadium. [6] [7] He was named as an alternate for the Jamaican team which competed at the 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest. [8]

In February 2024, he ran a new personal best 60m hurdles time of 7.65 seconds as he finished runner-up to compatriot Rasheed Broadbell in Fayetteville, Arkansas. [9] He was subsequently selected to run for Jamaica at the 2024 World Athletics Indoor Championships in Glasgow. [10]

The 110 metres hurdles, or 110-metre hurdles, is a hurdling track and field event for men. It is included in the athletics programme at the Summer Olympic Games. The female counterpart is the 100 metres hurdles. As part of a racing event, ten hurdles of 42 inches (106.7 cm) in height are evenly spaced along a straight course of 110 metres. They are positioned so that they will fall over if bumped into by the runner. Fallen hurdles do not carry a fixed time penalty for the runners, but they have a significant pull-over weight which slows down the run. Like the 100 metres sprint, the 110 metres hurdles begins in the starting blocks.

Andrew William Pozzi is a British hurdling athlete. He was the 2018 indoor World Champion at 60 metres hurdles. He was the 2012 UK 60m and 110m Champion and holds the record for the fastest ever time run by a UK junior hurdler. The record time, 13.29 seconds, was set on 3 July 2011 in Mannheim, Germany at the Bauhaus Junior Gala.

Warren Weir is a retired Jamaican sprinter, who specialized in the 200 metres. He was the bronze medallist in the event at the 2012 London Olympics, helping Jamaica sweep the medals. In 2013 at the Moscow World Championships, Warren Weir won the silver medal equalling his personal best. He finished behind Usain Bolt who set a World Leading time. His personal best is 19.79 seconds set at the National Stadium in his home country Kingston, Jamaica. He has since equalled his personal best in Moscow, in the World Championship final. He trained with the Glen Mills-coached Racers Track Club, alongside Usain Bolt and Yohan Blake.

He was NCAA indoor champion in the 60 m hurdles in 2014 and 2015 and outdoor champion in the 110 m hurdles in 2015; he turned professional after the 2015 collegiate season, forgoing his two remaining years of collegiate eligibility. His personal best in the 110 m hurdles ranks him equal 7th on the world all-time list.

Wellington Zaza is a Liberian hurdler who specializes in the 110 meters hurdles and the 400 meters hurdles. Zaza is the African junior record holder in the 110 metres hurdles. He broke that record at the 2014 World Junior Championships in Athletics. He has also competed at a World Championships.

Ronald Levy is a Jamaican male track and field athlete who competes in the 110 metres hurdles. He holds a personal best of 13.05 seconds for that event, set in 2017, as well as a 100 metres sprint best of 10.17 seconds. He was the gold medallist at the 2018 Commonwealth Games and represented his country at the World Championships in Athletics in 2017.

In the 60 meters hurdles, Holloway is the 2022 World Indoor champion and the world indoor record holder with a time of 7.27 seconds set at the 2024 USA Track & Field Indoor Championships.
