Rasheed Broadbell (born 13 August 2000) is a Jamaican hurdler who specializes in the 110 metres hurdles, which he won at the 2022 Commonwealth Games. [1] He also won the bronze medal in the same event at the 2024 Summer Olympics.

Career

In 2021, Broadbell had a breakthrough year, running a personal best of 13.10 seconds in Kingston, [2] however he was unable to qualify for the delayed 2020 Olympics due to injury. [3]

At the 2022 Jamaican Championships, Broadbell finished second in 13.20 seconds to qualify for the 2022 World Championships, where he made the semi-finals. [4] He went on to compete at the 2022 Commonwealth Games, winning gold in a new personal best and games record of 13.08 seconds. [1] Later that year, he ran sub-13 and won his first Diamond League at the Lausanne Diamond League, running 12.99 seconds. [5]

Broadbell won the 2023 Jamaican Championships in a new personal best of 12.94 seconds. [6] He was disqualified in the heats at the 2023 World Championships after falling after hurdle nine. [7]

In 2024, Broadbell ran a new personal best over 60 m hurdles of 7.56 seconds in Fayetteville. [8] He won his second consecutive Jamaican title over 110 m hurdles to qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics, where he won the bronze medal. [9]

David Oliver, is the Director of Track & Field at Howard University and a retired American hurdling athlete. As a professional athlete, he competed in the 110 meter hurdles event outdoor and the 60 meter hurdles event indoors. He is the former 110 meter hurdles champion winning the gold medal at the World Championships in Moscow in 2013 with a time of 13 seconds. He won the bronze medal in the 2008 Olympic Games and won another bronze at the 2010 IAAF World Indoor Championships.

Also in 2010, he broke the automatically timed world record in the 200 metres hurdles. He was coached by Lloyd Cowan.

David Thorn Payne is an American hurdler. He was born in Cincinnati and his family moved to the suburb of Wyoming in Ohio. Payne competed in the 110 and 400 meter hurdles while attending the University of Cincinnati. While at UC, Payne won multiple individual titles in Conference USA and was named Conference USA Outdoor Athlete of the Year while guiding the Bearcats to the C-USA 2004 outdoor title. He set school records for both distances and was a two time NCAA All-American in the 110m hurdles. Payne now resides in Northern Kentucky and trains in Cincinnati, Ohio.

The men's 110 metres hurdles at the 2009 World Championships in Athletics was held at the Olympic Stadium 19 and 20 August.

Hansle Parchment's bronze was Jamaica's first medal in the men's high hurdles.

He was NCAA indoor champion in the 60 m hurdles in 2014 and 2015 and outdoor champion in the 110 m hurdles in 2015; he turned professional after the 2015 collegiate season, forgoing his two remaining years of collegiate eligibility. Ronald Levy is a Jamaican male track and field athlete who competes in the 110 metres hurdles. He holds a personal best of 13.05 seconds for that event, set in 2017, as well as a 100 metres sprint best of 10.17 seconds. He was the gold medallist at the 2018 Commonwealth Games and represented his country at the World Championships in Athletics in 2017.

Shiann Salmon is a Jamaican track and field athlete who specializes in the 400 metres hurdles and 400 metres. She represented Jamaica at the 2019 World Athletics Championships, competing in women's 400 metres hurdles.

Omotade Ojora is an athlete who represents Great Britain and Northern Ireland at hurdling. He has won the 110 metres hurdles events at the 2021, 2022 and 2023 British Athletics Championships. He has competed in US college athletics for USC Trojans, achieving National Collegiate Athletic Association All-American honours three times.

Tyler Mason is a Jamaican sprinter who specialises in the 110 and 60m hurdles.

The men's 110 metres hurdles at the 2024 Summer Olympics was held in four rounds at the Stade de France in Paris, France, between 4 and 8 August 2024. This was the thirtieth time that the men's 110 metres hurdles was contested at the Summer Olympics.
