Tyler Rix (born2 January 1993) is a British singer, musician, and model.
Tyler appeared on the BBC's Classical Star competition aged 14. [1] In 2009 Rix signed to Universal Classics and Jazz and his recording, Ascent, was released in January 2009 containing a collection of old and new classical pieces. Released initially as an EP, it was released as a full-length recording in February 2009.
Tyler formed The Tyler Rix quartet age 15 which went on to perform at the Vortex in the London Jazz Festival on 22 November 2008. [2]
In January 2001, at the age of 8, Rix signed for West Ham United Academy. The following year, he appeared on the front cover of the book, Junior Soccer: A Complete Coaching Guide for the Young Player, a coaching guide produced in association with West Ham. [3] In April 2007 Rix played for Dame Alice Owen's School with whom he won the English Schools' FA National Cup. [4]
He was the final torchbearer on the day before the London 2012 Olympic Games, lighting the cauldron on stage in Hyde Park at the Olympic Torch Relay Finale Celebration on 27 July 2012 in front of a crowd of 80,000 people. [5]
The Olympic flame is a symbol used in the Olympic movement. It is also a symbol of continuity between ancient and modern games. The Olympic flame is lit at Olympia, Greece, several months before the Olympic Games. This ceremony starts the Olympic torch relay, which formally ends with the lighting of the Olympic cauldron during the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games. Through 2022, the flame would continue to burn in the cauldron for the duration of the Games, until it was extinguished during the Olympic closing ceremony. In 2024, electric lighting and mist were used to create a simulated flame for the Olympic cauldron, with the actual flame kept in a lantern exhibited at an adjacent location. That lantern was then taken by French swimmer Léon Marchand from Jardins des Tuileries and ceremonially "transferred" to the Stade de France at the start of the Closing Ceremony; there it was finally extinguished just after the IOC president declared officially closed the Games.

The 2010 Summer Youth Olympics torch relay was run from 23 July until 14 August 2010, prior to the 2010 Summer Youth Olympics held in Singapore. The torch relay was termed The Journey of the Youth Olympic Flame, or JYOF, by the Singapore Youth Olympic Games Organising Committee (SYOGOC). Natalie Alexis Duncan is a British soul musician from Nottingham, England, currently signed to British music producer and DJ Goldie’s record imprint Fallen Tree 1Hundred. Duncan released her eponymous debut EP Natalie Alexis Duncan under the Farmyard Records label in 2009, shortly after which she was selected as one of a group of young musicians chosen to take part in the BBC Two series Goldie's Band: By Royal Appointment, which was broadcast in March and April 2011. The 2014 Winter Olympics torch relay was run from October 7, 2013, 123 days prior to the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics, until February 7, 2014, the day of the opening ceremony at Sochi. In Russia the relay traveled from Moscow to Sochi through 2,900 towns and villages across all 83 federal subjects of Russia by foot, car, train, plane, and troika for over 65,000 km of journey. The event became the longest relay in Winter Olympics history.
The 1996 Summer Olympics torch relay was run from April 27 to July 19, leading up to the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta. The route covered 26,875 kilometers (16,699 mi) across the United States and featured a wide variety in the methods of transport used, including bicycles, boats, and trains. The National Pony Express Association participated in the journey, with riders carrying the torch for over 56 continuous hours. The torch was taken on board a replica of a 19th-century packet boat and pulled for 3.2 kilometers (2.0 mi) along the Erie Canal by mule. The torch was also carried into space for the first time, with astronauts taking an unlit torch with them aboard Space Shuttle Columbia as part of STS-78. The relay involved over 12,000 torchbearers, including Muhammad Ali, who was chosen to ignite the Olympic cauldron.
