Tyron North Carrier (born December 19, 1987) is an American football coach who was formerly a wide receiver for the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He played college football at Houston.
Carrier finished his college career with 320 receptions, which is the second most in NCAA Division I/FBS history. [2] In his career, Carrier returned seven kickoffs for touchdowns, an NCAA FBS record that he shares with Clemson's C. J. Spiller, San Diego State's Rashaad Penny, and Memphis's Tony Pollard. His 7,490 career all-purpose yards ranks sixth all-time. Carrier also holds the FBS record of 53 consecutive games with at least two receptions. [3]

In 2016, Carrier was hired as the wide receivers coach for the West Virginia Mountaineers. [5]
In 2019, Carrier joined Dana Holgorsen at the University of Houston as assistant head coach and wide receivers coach. [6] He and the school parted ways in May 2021. [7]
After spending the 2021 season out of coaching, Carrier was hired in March 2022 as the wide receivers coach at Texas A&M–Commerce. [8]
In 2023, Carrier was hired as the outside wide receivers coach for Grambling State. [9]
Kliff Timothy Kingsbury is an American professional football coach and former quarterback who is the offensive coordinator for the Washington Commanders of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the Texas Tech Red Raiders, finishing in the top three in several school passing records before being selected in the sixth round of the 2003 NFL draft by the New England Patriots. He was a member of several other NFL and CFL teams before entering coaching in 2008.

As a member of the Steelers, he won Super Bowl XLIII against the Arizona Cardinals. Baker is currently the wide receivers coach at Baylor University.
The Houston Cougars football program is an NCAA Division I FBS football team that represents the University of Houston. The team is commonly referred to as "Houston" or "UH." The UH football program is a member of the Big 12 Conference. Since the 2014 season, the Cougars have played their home games on campus at TDECU Stadium, which was built on the site formerly occupied by Robertson Stadium, where they played home games from 1941 to 1950 and from 1994 to 2012. Over the history of the program, the Cougars have won 11 conference championships and have had several players elected to the College Football Hall of Fame, including a Heisman Trophy winner.

The 2008 Houston Cougars football team, also known as the Houston Cougars, Houston, or UH, represented the University of Houston in the 2008 NCAA Division I FBS football season. It was the 63rd year of season play for Houston. The team was coached by first-year head football coach, Kevin Sumlin whose previous position was as co-offensive coordinator for the Oklahoma Sooners. He replaced Art Briles. The team played its home games at Robertson Stadium, a 32,000-person capacity stadium on-campus in Houston. Competing against the Air Force Falcons in the 2008 Armed Forces Bowl, the Cougars won their first bowl game since 1980, and broke the longest current bowl game losing streak in Division I FBS football at that time. In addition, Houston defeated two nationally ranked opponents, which the Cougars hadn't achieved since their 1984 season.
Dana Carl Holgorsen is an American college football coach. He is currently the offensive coordinator at the University of Nebraska. He served as the head football coach at West Virginia University from 2011 to 2018 and the University of Houston from 2019 to 2023. Holgorsen has worked as an assistant coach under Hal Mumme, Mike Leach, Kevin Sumlin, and Mike Gundy.
James Rodgers Jr. is an American football coach and former wide receiver who is the wide receivers coach for the New Jersey Generals of the United States Football League (USFL). He played college football for the Oregon State Beavers, earning second-team All-American honors in 2009. Rodgers signed with the Atlanta Falcons as an undrafted free agent following the 2012 NFL draft. The Houston–SMU rivalry is a college rivalry between the University of Houston Cougars and Southern Methodist University Mustangs. When Houston joined the Southwest Conference in 1972, the two schools were conference mates until the conference dissolved in 1996. After a brief hiatus, SMU would join Conference USA in 2005 and the rivalry would continue when both schools moved to the American Athletic Conference in 2013 during the midst of 2010–2014 NCAA conference realignment, where it intesified as they were they only two schools from Texas in the conference. Later, with Houston's move to the Big 12 Conference as a result of 2021–2024 NCAA conference realignment, the future of the rivalry was put in doubt.

The schools had been contractually required to remain with The American through 2024, but all reached a separation agreement that allowed them to join the Big 12 in 2023. Accordingly, the 2022 season was the program's last season as a member of The American.

The 46th annual Independence Bowl, it began at 2:04 p.m. CST and was aired on ESPN. The game featured the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns from the Sun Belt Conference and the Houston Cougars from the American Athletic Conference. It was one of the 2022–23 bowl games concluding the 2022 FBS football season. Sponsored by engineering services company Radiance Technologies, the game was officially known as the Radiance Technologies Independence Bowl.
