The University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP), established in 1938, is an athletic association of eight Metro Manila universities in the Philippines. The eight-member schools are Adamson University (AdU), Ateneo de Manila University, De La Salle University (DLSU), Far Eastern University (FEU), National University (NU), University of the East (UE), University of the Philippines Diliman (UP), and the University of Santo Tomas (UST).
The UAAP basketball championships are basketball tournaments held from September to December by the University Athletic Association of the Philippines, and the men's tournament is the flagship tournament of the UAAP. Basketball is a mandatory sport for all schools. All eight universities participate in the men's, women's, and high school (boys') tournaments.
The University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) volleyball tournament is divided into four divisions, namely men's, women's, boys' and girls'. Volleyball is a mandatory sport in the women's division. The UAAP volleyball tournament was held in the first semester of the school year until the UAAP Board decided to move it to the second semester in Season 69. Since the scheduling shift and given its major overall points contribution to the annual UAAP general championship tallies, the championship in volleyball has emerged as one of the most coveted titles that schools aspire for during every season in the league and is one of the most anticipated live TV sporting events in the Philippines.
The University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Overall Championship is awarded to the school with the highest point total in the different UAAP events. It was first awarded in UAAP Season 10. Member universities currently compete in fifteen sports to vie for the overall championship, namely, badminton, baseball, basketball, beach volleyball, chess, fencing, football, judo, softball, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, tennis, track and field, and volleyball.
The UE Red Warriors, Lady Warriors, Junior Warriors and Lady Junior Warriors are the collegiate men's and women's, and high school men's and women's, respectively, varsity teams of the University of the East (UE) that play in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines.
The UST Growling Tigers, Tigresses, Tiger Cubs and Tigress Cubs are the collegiate men's and women's, and high school men's and women's, respectively, varsity teams of University of Santo Tomas (UST) in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines. They hold the most UAAP Overall Championships with 47 Seniors' Overall Championships and 23 Juniors' Overall Championships.
UAAP Season 71 was the 2008–2009 season of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines. The University of the Philippines (UP) hosted this season, which coincided with the centennial anniversary of the University's establishment. It opened on July 5, 2008 with an elaborate ceremony held at the Araneta Coliseum.
The UAAP Season 72 men's basketball tournament is the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP)'s men's basketball tournament for the 2009–10 season.
The UST Growling Tigers basketball is the intercollegiate men's basketball program of the University of Santo Tomas. The school has won 19 basketball titles including one in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). They are one of the winningest teams in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) with 18 championships, the last coming in 2006 during Pido Jarencio's rookie year of coaching. Jarencio returned as the team's head coach after ten years since resigning in 2013. He formally replaced Bal David on February 3, 2023.
Jeric Allen Uy Teng is a Filipino basketball player who last played for the Quezon Huskers of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL). He was drafted 12th overall by Rain or Shine in the 2013 PBA draft. He played college ball for the UST Growling Tigers in the UAAP.
FEU Tamaraws are the collegiate basketball varsity team of the Far Eastern University (FEU). FEU currently holds the record of winning the most number of championships in the men's basketball division of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines. FEU also appeared in the Philippine Collegiate Championship finals four times, and was able to win back to back championships in 2004 and 2005. The team originally played in the NCAA from 1929 to 1936 and was one of its founding members.
The 2013 FEU Tamaraws men's basketball team represented Far Eastern University during the 76th season of the UAAP men's basketball tournament that began on June 29, 2013. The Tamaraws finished the eliminations with a 10-4 record and placed third in the tournament after losing to DLSU in the semifinals.
The 1957 UAAP men's basketball tournament was the 20th year of the men's tournament of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP)'s basketball championship. Hosted by University of the Philippines, the UE Warriors defeated the UST Glowing Goldies in a single game finals taking their first UAAP men's basketball championship since joining the league in 1952.
The 1960 UAAP men's basketball tournament was the 23rd year of the men's tournament of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP)'s basketball championship. Hosted by Manila Central University, the UE Warriors defeated the FEU Tamaraws in a single game finals taking their third UAAP men's basketball championship. This was the only season hosted by MCU before its pull-out from the league in 1962.
The 1970 UAAP men's basketball tournament was the 33rd year of the men's tournament of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP)'s basketball championship. Hosted by University of Santo Tomas, the UE Warriors defeated the NU Bulldogs in the finals taking their eleventh overall and sixth straight UAAP men's basketball championship. The Warriors would eventually win the title the following year achieving a league record seven-peat. This was National University's first finals appearance in 15 years since they were beaten by UST for the title round in 1955. This was also NU's last finals appearance prior to their 2014 championship title.
The UAAP Season 80 basketball tournaments were the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) basketball tournaments for the 2017–18 school year. The tournaments are divided into men's, women's and juniors' divisions, for male and female college players and male high school players, respectively. The host school for the seniors' division was Far Eastern University, while Ateneo de Manila University was the sub-host for the juniors' division. The De La Salle Green Archers, NU Lady Bulldogs, and FEU Baby Tamaraws are the defending champions for the men's, women's and juniors respectively.

The 2019 UST Growling Tigers men's basketball team represented University of Santo Tomas in the 82nd season of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines. The men's basketball tournament for the school year 2019-20 began on September 4, 2019, and the host school for the season was Ateneo de Manila University.

The UAAP Season 87 basketball tournaments are the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) basketball tournaments for the 2024–25 school year. The University of the Philippines Diliman are the hosts.
