The USA Volleyball Cup or USAV Cup is an annual indoor volleyball event organized by USA Volleyball. The USAV CUP is an initiative of the USA Volleyball that draw elite teams to the United States to compete with the U.S. Men's and Women's National Indoor Volleyball Teams.

Contents

This provides the chance for the local communities around the U.S. specially to the host city of USA Volleyball, Anaheim, to watch world-class competition of women's volleyball.

In every tour series, at least one match will be played in Southern California and one throughout the country.

The USA Volleyball Cup was inaugurated in 2013 with the U.S. Women's National Team hosting Japan's Women's National Team.

The following year, the U.S. Men's National Team started the men's tour of USAV Cup hosting Iran's Men's National Team. [1]

2013

The inaugural year of USA Volleyball Cup only had the women's series. Japan's women's volleyball team accepted the U.S. invitation. The event served as a preparation to the 2013 FIVB World Grand Prix.

Prior to this tour series, the U.S. Women's National Team hosted Japan during the spring of 2000 with matches in Burleston, Texas, Pueblo, Colorado, Colorado Spring and Denver.

Japan won three of the four matches with three of the matches extending to a fifth set. In Pueblo, Colo., Japan won the contest with a 25–23 score in the fifth set. The single victory of U.S. also came to a five-set match. [2]

2014

For this year's USAV Cup, the U.S. women hosted Brazil Women's National Team. In addition to the women's series, the U.S. Men's National Team were introduced to the USAV Cup with the inclusion of men's series.
The U.S. men hosted the I.R. Iran men's national team. This marked the first time the Iran's volleyball team compete on U.S. soil. [3]

The 2014 USAV Cup featured four exhibition games for both men and women. It also served as a preparation for the 2014 FIVB World Championship. [4]

2015

The 2015 USAV Cup featured China as the visiting team. [5] This series was viewed as the continuation of the 2014 World Championship finals where the same two teams met.

The U.S. Men hosted Brazil for the 2015 USAV Cup. [6] The seven served as a preparation of for the 2015 World Cup.

2016

The men's series of this year's USAV Cup was shorter than the previous editions with only two-exhibition games. The U.S. men hosted Japan. [7]

The men's series was scheduled slightly earlier than the previous editions. Some of the leading players of U.S. men's team were still competing abroad making them unable to participate in the event.

The event served as a preparation of Japan for the 2016 World Olympic Qualification.

The men's series of this year's USAV Cup was like the previous edition with only two-exhibition games. The U.S. men hosted Brazil.

The event served as a preparation for both teams to the 2017 FIVB Volleyball Men's World Grand Champions Cup.

The FIVB Volleyball World Grand Champions Cup was an international volleyball competition contested by the senior men's and women's national teams of the members of Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB), the sport's global governing body. The tournament was created in 1993 after radical changes made on the biggest tournaments organised by the FIVB. The main goal was not to have a single year without two high-profile world-level volleyball competitions, alongside the pre-existing men's and women's world championship, men's and women's world cup and the volleyball tournament at the Olympic Games which are all quadrennial and the annual men's and women's Nations League.

The 2018–19 UC Irvine Anteaters men's basketball team represented the University of California, Irvine in the 2018–19 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Anteaters were led by ninth-year head coach Russell Turner competing in the Bren Events Center. UC Irvine is a member of the Big West Conference, and participated in their 41st consecutive season in that league. The team finished the season with many new records that included a new school record of 31-6, longest game winning streak (17), and first ever NCAA Tournament win over Kansas State in the South Region 1st Round before falling to Oregon in the 2nd Round. Jonathan Galloway became the new program record holder of rebounds (969), career games won (95), career games played (146). Max Hazzard broke the Bren Events Center record for most three pointers made in a game on December 15 against Denver (10) and the team broke the school record for most threes made in a game that night with 18. Evan Leonard set a school record of 44 consecutive free throws made that ended in the NCAA Tournament 2nd Round vs Oregon. The team finished 2nd in the 2018 Asia-Pacific University Basketball Challenge prior to the season and the 2019 Gulf Coast Showcase during the regular season. The team won its 4th regular season title in 6 seasons on March 2, 2019 in a win over UC Riverside. The team won its second Big West tournament title with wins over UC Riverside, Long Beach State, and Cal State Fullerton.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2019 FIVB Volleyball Women's World Cup</span> International volleyball competition

The 2019 FIVB Women's World Cup was the 13th edition of the event, contested by the senior women's national teams of the members of the Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB), the sport's global governing body. The tournament was held from 14 to 29 September 2019 in Japan. This was the first time that the FIVB did not distribute Olympics places since 1991 due to Japan hosting the 2020 Summer Olympics, but points for the FIVB World Rankings were given.

The 2019 Big West Conference women's basketball tournament was the postseason women's basketball tournament that took place March 12–16, 2019, at two venues in the Los Angeles area. The first two rounds were scheduled for the Bren Events Center in Irvine, California, while the semifinals and championship were held at the Honda Center in Anaheim. The winner of the Big West tournament receives the conference's automatic bid to the 2019 NCAA Women's Division I Basketball Tournament. UC Davis won the conference tournament championship game over Hawai'i, 58–50.

The 2023 FIVB Volleyball Men's Olympic Qualification Tournaments, alternatively the 2023 Volleyball Men's World Cup and also known as FIVB Road to Paris Volleyball Qualifier, were the three volleyball tournaments contested by 24 men's national teams of the Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB), where the top two teams in each pool earned a place in the 2024 Summer Olympics.
