The National Democratic Alliance is an Indian big tent multi-party political alliance,led by the country's biggest political party,the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). It was founded on 15 May 1998 and currently controls the government of India as well as the government of 19 Indian states and one Union territory.

The 2024 Maharashtra Legislative Assembly election was held on 20 November 2024 to elect all 288 members of the state's Legislative Assembly to elect 288 members of the 15th Maharashtra Legislative Assembly. The turnout for the election was 66.05%,the highest since 1995. The ruling Maha Yuti alliance won a landslide victory,winning 235 seats. None of the parties in the Maha Vikas Aghadi alliance won the necessary number of seats to obtain the position of leader of opposition,a first in six decades.

After unsuccessfully contesting the assembly polls from the Akkalkuwa assembly segment in 2014,2019,he won the 2024 Assembly election by a margin of 2,904 votes.
Ravindra Dhangekar is an Indian National Congress politician from Pune,was a member of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly from the Kasba Peth Assembly constituency. He won the seat in a by-election in March 2023,which was necessitated by the death of the incumbent BJP MLA Mukta Tilak. Dhangekar's victory on a Congress ticket was seen as a significant upset,ending the BJP's 28-year hold on the constituency.
