Ufuwai Bonet is the monarch of Gworok (Kagoro) Chiefdom, a Nigerian traditional state in southern Kaduna State, Nigeria. He is also known by the title "Chief of Kagoro (Gworok)". [1] [2] [3] As of 2016, he is the deputy chairman of the Kaduna State council of chiefs and emirs. [4]

In 2011, he led the Kaduna State Christians to pilgrimage in Israel, Egypt, Rome and Greece, in which two absconded. [5]

In January 2017, while addressing the Nigerian Chief of Defense Staff, General Abayomi Olonisakin on a visit to his palace after the attacks by Fulani terrorists, he assured:

“If you hear anything happening, our people just go on revenge, they never attacked. Am telling you this between me and my God..." [6]

Later in February, in an address to the CAN, over the same issue, Bonet admonished:

“CAN should approach the leaders and prevail on them to make statements on what their people are doing. They have moved down to the south, nowhere is safe. You have a job to do to get all the Christians together so that we can be one.” [7]

He also decried the security situation in the area during the 2019 edition of the Afan National Cultural Festival, which he hosted. [8]

During the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020, he urged the people, village and ward heads in his realm to abide by the lockdown orders as liquor sellers hesitated to comply. [9]

Kafanchan is a town located in the southern part of Kaduna State, Nigeria. The town owes much of its development to the railway development in the area. The railway is situated at a particular junction of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) station built in 1927. It sits on the railtrack connecting Port Harcourt, Enugu, Kafanchan, Kuru, Bauchi and finally Maiduguri. As of 2007, Kafanchan had an estimated population of 83,092.

Kaura is a town and a Local Government Area in southern Kaduna State, Nigeria. Its headquarters are in the town of Kaura in Asholyio (Moroa) Chiefdom. The Local Government Council is chaired by Matthias Siman. Other towns include: Takad (Attakar)Manchok and Kagoro. It has an area of 461 km2 and a population of 174,626 at the 2006 census. The postal code of the area is 801.

It is home to many missionaries, attracted by the cool weather and relatively high altitude. Gworog has a post office. Other places in Kagoro are Malagum and Tum.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Afan festival</span> Nigerian annual cultural festivals

The Afan National Festival is an annual event celebrated every 1 January by the Oegworok (Kagoro) people of southern Kaduna State, Middle Belt (central) Nigeria. It is said to have been observed for over 400 years. The festival holds every January 1 in the palace of the Chief of Kagoro in the Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Tum is a village in Kagoro chiefdom, Kaura Local Government Area in southern Kaduna State in the Middle Belt region of Nigeria. The village uses the near by post office at Kagoro.

Between December 19 and 25, 2022, several villages in Kagoro, Kaduna State, Nigeria were attacked by unknown groups, who killed over 46 people in two attacks.

The immediate origins of killings in Southern Kaduna especially in the 2010s and early 2020s can be traced to the events that brought in Goodluck Jonathan into power in 2010 as the President of Nigeria, and escalated after the presidential election in 2011, which he won.
