Ujiogba is a community located in Esan West Local Government Area of Edo State, South South Nigeria. [1] The community is headed by an "onojie" [2] shares boundary with Ogwa community and Ehor Village. The community is largely an agrarian society and dominated by the Ishan speaking people of Edo State.

The Esan people are an ethnic group of southern Nigeria who speak the Esan language. The Esan are traditionally known to be agriculturalists, trado-medical practitioners, mercenary warriors and hunters. They cultivate palm trees, Irvingia gabonensis (erhonhiele), Cherry (Otien), bell pepper (akoh) coconut, betel nut, kola nut, black pear, avocado pear, yams, cocoyam, cassava, maize, rice, beans, groundnut, bananas, oranges, plantains, sugar cane, tomato, potato, okra, pineapple, paw paw, and various vegetables.
Ogbidi Okojie, Onojie (king) of Uromi, was a ruler of the Esan people in what is now Edo State in Nigeria, still remembered for his opposition to British rule.

Ishan is the anglicized variant for Esan. The Ogwa people in Edo State identify themselves as Esan or Ishan people. Ogwa has four clans: Eguare, Ukpogu, Izogen and Eha. Agba N'Ojie of Uromi, originally called Agba orAgba N'Ojie, was the King of the Esan people from 1483 AD until 1507 AD. He was an important Onojie within the history of the Esan people. He was instrumental in the independence of Esanland from the old Benin Empire. He stopped tributes from Enijies in Esanland from being paid to the Oba of Benin, and stopped any appeal cases being taken from Esanland to the Oba's Palace of Benin for retrial during the time of Ozolua n'Ibarmoi (or Ozolua the Conqueror).
The 1999 Nigerian Senate election in Edo State was held on February 20, 1999, to elect members of the Nigerian Senate to represent Edo State. Victor Oyofo representing Edo North, Oserheimen Osunbor representing Edo Central and Roland Owie representing Edo South all won on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party.
Ekpon is one of the thirty-five clans in Esanland located in Igueben Local Government Area of Nigeria. The community which falls within the central part of Edo State, is largely an agrarian society. The Ekpon community consist of five quarters namely; Eguare, Igoduma, Ogbe, Ikpudu, and Eku. These quarters are all governed by an Onojie.
Urohi sometimes spelt as Urhohi is a community in Esan West Local Government Area of Edo State, Nigeria. It is among the several communities in Esanland. The community is governed by King Onojie. In 2019, the fifteenth Onojie of Urohi Kingdom was installed.
