The Ukrainian Dnipro Ensemble of Edmonton is a choir in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, which specialises in Ukrainian choral music.

The Dnipro Male Chorus was organized in Edmonton in 1953 by Roman Soltykewych, along with a group of devotees, whose primary concern was the fostering, promotion, and perpetuation of the finest elements of Ukrainian choral music. [1] The son of the first conductor of the Dnipro Male Chorus, Orest Soltykevych, was instrumental in creating the Ukrainian Male Chorus of Edmonton. [2]

The current generation[ when? ] of the Ukrainian Dnipro Ensemble of Edmonton continues this work of preserving Ukrainian musical culture within the parameters of the Canadian multicultural identity. [1]

Yale Russian Chorus

The Yale Russian Chorus is a tenor-bass choral ensemble at Yale University, established in 1953 by Denis Mickiewicz, a student at the Yale Music School, and George Litton, president of the Yale Russian Club. The group sings a variety of secular and sacred Slavic choral pieces, from the 12th century onward, including folk songs of Russia and Eastern Europe. The current musical director is Ioann Popov.

Dr. Greg Lyne is an American choral director, arranger, composer and vocal educator. Lyne works full-time as a coach for choruses and quartets and as a clinician for musical ensembles of all types. He has conducted over 300 Festival and All-State Choirs throughout the US, including Alaska and Hawaii, and in Canada, England, Scotland and Russia. In Russia, he has presented master classes at the St. Petersburg Conservatory of Music to European musicians. Lyne is the only American listed in the Russian version of Who's Who. He has also served as guest conductor of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.

Frank Scott Albinder is a conductor of male choral music. A former director of Chanticleer, Albinder currently conducts the Washington Men's Camerata, the Woodley Ensemble, and the Virginia Glee Club, and is president of Intercollegiate Men's Choruses, Inc., a national association of men's choruses. Albinder designed the concept and chose the repertoire for Chanticleer's Grammy Award winning album Colors of Love. Albinder holds degrees in conducting and vocal performance. Perhaps his best known work is the vocal solo of Loch Lomond, featured on the Chanticleer album Wondrous Love. He is a past president of the Alumni Association of Pomona College in Claremont, California. Albinder lives and works primarily in the District of Columbia.

Canadian Bandurist Capella

The Canadian Bandurist Capella is a vocal-instrumental ensemble that combines the sounds of male choral singing with the orchestral accompaniment of the multi-stringed Ukrainian bandura. Originally established as "Toronto Bandurist Capella" in 2001, the ensemble has been performing under the name "Canadian Bandurist Capella" since 2004. It is based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Leonid Skirko

Keith Warren Bissell was a Canadian composer, conductor, and music educator. He was particularly known for his choral music, which often implemented elements of Canadian folk music. A passionate educator, he was a pupil of Carl Orff and was influential in popularizing the Orff Schulwerk methodology within North America. From 1957 to 1958 he was President of the Ontario Music Educators' Association. He was conductor and Artistic Director of the National Youth Orchestra of Canada in 1970–1971. He also was vice-president of the Canadian Music Council for several years and president of the Canadian Music Centre from 1975-1977.

Kobzarska Sich is a summer music camp devoted to learning bandura and Ukrainian choral music. Kobzarska Sich is held every August at All Saints Camp in Emlenton, Pennsylvania. In its current format, four courses are offered: Bandura Course, Junior Bandura Workshop, the Ukrainian Choral Workshop, and the Ukrainian Sacred Music Workshop.

Vahram Sargsyan

Vahram Sargsyan is an Armenian Canadian composer, choral conductor and experimental vocalist currently living in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

The Ukrainian Male Chorus of Edmonton (UMCE) was founded in 1984 and has performed at many events and festival both in Canada and internationally. Performances include Expo '86, the International Choral Festival, along with tours to Ukraine, Poland, and Eastern Europe. Each year the UMCE hosts a Christmas concert, A Festive Mosaic. A Festive Mosaic is hosted by the UMCE and hosts several different groups each year, including soloists, duos, and other choirs from the Edmonton region. The concert is usually held at McDougall United Church. The UMCE is also a member of the Alberta Choral Federation (ACF). The UMCE has also performed numerous times with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra (ESO) at the Winspear Centre in downtown Edmonton, Alberta.

Roman Soltykewych was a Ukrainian-Canadian conductor of the Ukrainian Dnipro Ensemble of Edmonton and the father of Orest Soltykevych.

Orest Soltykevych is a Ukrainian-Canadian conductor, currently conducting the Ukrainian Male Chorus of Edmonton and the Verkhovyna Ukrainian Choir. Orest is also a radio program announcer and producer at the CKUA Radio Network. Orest is the son of Roman Soltykewych.
