The 2015–2017 ICC World Cricket League Championship was the second edition of the ICC World Cricket League Championship. It took place from 2015 until 2017, in parallel with the 2015-17 ICC Intercontinental Cup. Both Ireland and Afghanistan had been promoted to the main ICC ODI Championship and did not compete in this tournament. Instead, Kenya and Nepal were included in the tournament. The tournament was played in a round-robin format. All matches were recorded as List A matches, and those in which both teams had ODI status were also recorded as ODIs.

The 2017 Desert T20 Challenge was an international Twenty20 International (T20I) cricket tournament that was held in Dubai and Abu Dhabi from 14 to 20 January 2017. The eight Associate Members that have T20I status were scheduled to take part, although Papua New Guinea declined to participate and were replaced by Namibia. The United Arab Emirates cricket team toured the Netherlands in July 2017 to play three List A matches. In the opening match, brothers Asad and Saqib Zulfiqar made their debuts and played alongside their other brother, Sikander Zulfiqar. It was the first time triplets had played in a professional cricket team together. The United Arab Emirates won the series 2–1.

Saqib Zulfiqar is a Dutch cricketer. He made his List A debut for the Netherlands against the United Arab Emirates on 17 July 2017. In the match, he played alongside his brothers Asad and Sikander, becoming the first instance of triplets playing for a professional cricket team in the same game.
