Cherise Alexandria Gary, known by her stage name Uniiqu3 (stylized in all caps), is an American DJ, songwriter, and music producer. [2] [3]

Uniiqu3 is best known for her work in the Jersey club genre, most notably her 2018 song with TT the Artist "Girls Off the Chain," which was sampled for Chloe Bailey's 2022 debut single, "Have Mercy". [4] She has been dubbed[ by whom? ] the "Queen of Jersey Club." [5] [6]

She has made official remixes for Tiwa Savage, Crystal Waters, Aluna George, Anna Lunoe, and more. [7] [8] [9] She is signed to Nina Las Vegas record label NLV Records [10] and hosts her own radio show on SiriusXM called Club Queen Radio. [11]

Early life

Gary was raised in Hillside, New Jersey. [12] She first discovered Jersey club as a teenage ballerina at Newark Symphony Hall. DJ Tameil, the founding father of Jersey club, was selling his CDs at a booth nearby, which she would purchase and share with her peers. In time, she noticed the lack of female DJ representation in Newark's club scene, so she learned how to DJ in 2011, and two years later, she began producing. [13]

Career

Starting in 2014, Uniiqu3 released a series of mixtapes. [14] [15] Her popularity grew through her 2016 Boiler Room appearance, her 2017 mix for 'Diplo and Friends' radio show on BBC Radio 1XTRA, and with the 2021 release of her Heartbeats EP which contained the viral song "Microdosing", landing on Billboard Magazine's "Best Dance Songs of 2021" list. [16] [17] In 2022, she collaborated with Whipped Cream, Big Freedia, and Moore Kismet on the single "Hold Up." [18]

In September 2021, her breakthrough single "Microdosing" was used to soundtrack the Versace x Fendi "Fendaci" [19] catwalk collection. [20] In 2023, Uniiqu3 won a BMI award for her contribution to Chloe Bailey's debut song "Have Mercy". [21] Most recently, she was profiled by PBS in a short documentary on the origins, rise to prominence, and ongoing contributions Jersey club artists are making to global urban music and dance cultures. [22] [23]

In 2019, Uniiqu3 began the ongoing PBNJ party series bringing together club artists from Philadelphia, Baltimore, and New Jersey. [24] Uniiqu3 performed as supporting act on the East Coast leg of Tinashe's BB/Ang3l tour, taking place in 2024.

"Where Love Lives (Come On In)" is a song by British singer-songwriter and former dancer Alison Limerick, released first time in November 1990. It was her solo-debut and received favorable reviews from music critics, becoming a massive club hit in the early 1990s in both the United Kingdom and United States. In 1991, the single peaked at number 27 in the UK and number three on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart in the US. It was also voted Dance Track of 1991 by Billboard magazine. In 1992, it was included on Limerick's debut album, And Still I Rise. In 1996, it was released in a new remix by Dancing Divaz, peaking at number nine in the UK and number four on the dance chart in the US. The song is famous for the funked-up piano intro and remains the singer's most successful release. "Versace on the Floor" is a song by American singer Bruno Mars from his third studio album, 24K Magic (2016). Atlantic Records released the song as the only promotional single and the third official single from the album to Hot AC radio in the United States on June 12, 2017. "Versace on the Floor" was written by Mars, Philip Lawrence, Christopher Brody Brown and James Fauntleroy. Mars, Lawrence and Brown handled the track's production under the name Shampoo Press & Curl. A remix by French DJ David Guetta was released on June 27, 2017, for digital download and streaming in various countries. "Versace on the Floor" is an retro-styled R&B song reminiscent of the slow jams from the 1990s, and resembles the early works of Michael Jackson. The song's lyrics address romance, intimacy and Gianni Versace's clothing line.

Jersey club is a style of electronic club music that originated in Newark, New Jersey in the early 2000s. It was pioneered by DJ Tameil, Mike V, DJ Tim Dolla, and DJ Black Mic of the Brick Bandits crew, who were inspired by Baltimore club's uptempo hybrid of house and hip hop. Other young producers also pushed for the progression of this style of music in the late 2000s.

<i>Club Quarantine</i> Virtual gay club based in Toronto, Canada

Club Quarantine is a virtual gay club based in Toronto that began hosting URL (online) parties in early 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. Created by four friends, recording artist Ceréna Sierra, DJ Casey MQ, comedian Brad Allen, and digital creative Mingus New, Club Q began by hosting parties on Zoom in March 2020. In Ontario, full closures of all non-essential businesses were recommended by the province on March 16 2020. Club Q's first online event took place on that same Monday, March 16, 2020, with a modest 12 attendees. The Club Q Zoom event on March 17, 2020 featured a spontaneous live stick-and-poke session where a virtual club-goer got a tattoo reading "Club Q". Later online events often saw 1,000 attendees. By April 2020, Club Q had partnered with PAPER magazine to host a series of events. Club Q hosted their first IRL - as opposed to URL) event for Halloween 2021 at a membership based co-working space called Eastroom in Toronto where 700 people attended. The IRL halloween event was called "Literally Dead" and was also live streamed to a Zoom audience.

Meg Ward is a British electronic dance music disc jockey and record producer from Pontefract, England. She is known for her live performances, with music that combines multiple genres including house, techno, disco and garage.
