Union of OIC News Agencies (abbreviated as UNA and UNA-OIC [6] ), [4] [7] [a] formerly known as the International Islamic News Agency (IINA), [5] is a specialized organ of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), is a news agency publishing in Arabic, English and French and focusing on news about the Islamic world and Islamic affairs. Its headquarters is in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Contents

The agency was established in 1972, [9] under a resolution of the Third Islamic Conference of Foreign Ministers. It is financed by OIC member states. Majid bin Abdullah Al Qasabi is chairman of the Union of OIC News Agencies (UNA-OIC) Executive Council.

It was founded following a resolution by the Third Islamic Summit Conference of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, held in Mecca, that called for the establishment of an Islamic Fiqh Academy. The International Islamic Fiqh Academy was established in June 1983 as a subsidiary organ of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. It consists of 57 member states and representatives.

The Islamic Solidarity Games is a multinational, multi-sport event. Managed jointly by the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation (ISSF), the Games involve elite athletes of the OIC competing in a variety of sports. The most recent edition was held in Konya, Turkey, in 2022. The next edition will take place in 2025 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Islamic Committee of the International Crescent, is an Islamic relief organization and one of the eight specialized institutions of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation designed to serve as the main component of humanitarian aid to the 57 member states in times of the state of emergency caused by the natural disaster or military conflicts. It mainly provides medical assistance to the affected sovereign states, including permanent and non permanent member states.

Islamic Organisation for Food Security, is a food and agriculture organization and one of the eight specialized institutions of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation focused on the development of agriculture and rural development with primary focus on widespread scarcity of food and food security of the member states. Its charter is formally signed by 41 member states out of 57 as of 2024. The associated member states work in collaboration with IOFS.

The Charter of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, commonly known as OIC Charter, is the foundational treaty of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation. Its foundational principles are based on 18 chapters that objectively maintains the purpose, focus, functions, and foundation of the OIC, an intergovernmental organization founded in 1969. The charter was formally signed on 25 September 1969 by the 57 member states, including 5 observer states. However, it was revised by the 11th summit held in Dakar, Senegal on 14 March 2008.

General Secretariat of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, commonly known as General Secretariat, is an executive body and primary organ of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation that consists of the secretary general and staff members of the OIC, the second-largest intergovernmental organization after the United Nations. General Secretariat is tasked with decision implementation, in addition to maintaining the entire organisation, including its charter. It also maintains Standing Committees, an Executive Committee and the Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission across the 57 member states. It manages subsidiaries, specialized, and affiliated institutions of the OIC, with prime focus on OIC Council of Foreign Ministers and Islamic summit conducted by the 57 member states.
