United States has competed at the World Athletics Relays since first edition held in 2014, and until edition held in 2019, Americans athletes have won a total of 31 medals, 22 of them gold. They have won the Golden Baton at all those editions. [1]

Americans have won 9 titles in the men's field, 10 in the women's field and 3 in the mixed field. [2]

Multiple wins athletes with three titles are Tony McQuay (4x400m 2014/2015/2017), LaShawn Merritt USA Men's 4x400m 2014/2015/2017), David Verburg USA Men's 4x400m 2014/2015/2017) among men and Natasha Hastings USA Women's 4x400m 2014/2015/2017), Chanelle Price (4x800m 2014/2015/2017), Sanya Richards-Ross (4x400m 2014/2015, Distance Medley Relay 2015) among women. 400 metres Sprint running event

The 400 metres, or 400-metre dash, is a sprinting event in track and field competitions. It has been featured in the athletics programme at the Summer Olympics since 1896 for men and since 1964 for women. On a standard outdoor running track, it is one lap around the track. Runners start in staggered positions and race in separate lanes for the entire course. In many countries, athletes previously competed in the 440-yard dash (402.336 m)—which is a quarter of a mile and was referred to as the 'quarter-mile'—instead of the 400 m (437.445 yards), though this distance is now obsolete.

Allyson Michelle Felix is an American track and field sprinter. Her main event is the 400 meters, but she has competed at the professional level in the 100 meters, 200 meters, 400 meters, 4x100 meter relay, and 4x400 meter relay. At 200 meters, she is the 2012 Olympic champion, a 3-time World champion (2005–2009), and 2-time Olympic silver medalist. At 400 meters, she is the 2015 World champion, 2011 World silver medalist, 2016 Olympic silver medalist, and 2017 World bronze medalist.

Brenda Taylor is an American track and field athlete who specialises in the 400 meter hurdles. She reached the final of the event at the 2004 Summer Olympics. She also competed at the 2001 World Championships in Athletics and won a medal at the 2003 IAAF World Indoor Championships in the 4×400-meter relay.

Francena McCorory American sprinter

Francena Lynette McCorory is an American track and field athlete, known primarily for running the 400 metres, and is the NCAA and American indoor record holder in that event. She was a member of the 2012 United States Olympic team and won the gold medal in the 4 × 400 m relay at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. She was the IAAF 400 meter Indoor World Champion in 2014.

Regina George is an American-born Nigerian sprinter who specializes in the 400 metres. She represented Nigeria at the 2012 Summer Olympics and was the silver medallist at the African Championships in 2012.

World Athletics Relays

The World Athletics Relays, known as the IAAF World Relays until 2019, is an international biennial track and field sporting event held by World Athletics where teams from around the world compete in relay races, some of which are not part of the standard Olympic programme. The first three editions were set to take place in Nassau, Bahamas at the Thomas Robinson Stadium in 2014, 2015 and 2017. Originally intended as an annual event, it was later decided to happen every odd year, the same as the IAAF World Championships in Athletics for which it serves as a qualification stage.

Dalilah Muhammad American hurdler

Dalilah Muhammad is an American track and field athlete who specializes in the 400 metres hurdles. She won the gold medal at the 2019 World Championships, setting the current world record with a time of 52.16 seconds. She was also the 2013, 2016, and 2017 American national champion. At the 2016 Summer Olympics, she won gold in the 400 metres hurdles. Muhammad is only the second female 400 meter hurdler in history, after Sally Gunnell, to have won the Olympic and World titles and broken the world record.

4 × 400 metres relay at the Olympics

The 4×400 metres relay at the Summer Olympics is the longest track relay event held at the multi-sport event. The men's relay has been present on the Olympic athletics programme since 1912 and the women's event has been continuously held since the 1972 Olympics. It is the most prestigious 4×400 m relay race at elite level. At the 1908 Summer Olympics, a precursor to this event was held – the 1600 m medley relay. This event, with two legs of 200 m, one of 400 m, and a final leg of 800 m, was the first track relay in Olympic history.

2022 World Athletics Championships

The 2022 World Athletics Championships, the eighteenth edition of the World Athletics Championships, are scheduled to be held in 2022 in Eugene, Oregon, United States. Originally scheduled to be held from August 6–15, 2021, after the postponement of the 2020 Summer Olympics, World Athletics raised the possibility of changing the date of the 2021 Championships, including the possibility of moving into 2022. On April 8, 2020, World Athletics announced that the event would take place from July 15–24, 2022.

Kendall Baisden is an American track and field sprinter who specializes in the 400-meter dash. She holds a personal record of 50.46 seconds for the distance, set in 2014.

Michael Norman (sprinter) American sprinter

Michael Arthur Norman Jr. is an American sprinter. He holds the world best time in the indoor 400 meters at 44.52 seconds. In 2016, he became the world junior champion in both the 200 meters and 4×100 meter relay.

Salwa Eid Naser Bahraini sprinter

Salwa Eid Naser is a Nigerian-born Bahraini athlete sprinter who specializes in the 400 metres. She is the 2019, youngest-ever World champion with a best of 48.14 sec, thus becoming first Asian woman to win the event at the World Championships. It ranks her third on the all-time list, behind only Marita Koch and Jarmila Kratochvílová. At the distance, she is also the 2017 World silver medalist.

Noah Lyles American sprinter

Noah Lyles is an American professional track and field athlete specializing in the sprints. He holds personal bests of 9.86 seconds for the 100 meters and 19.50 seconds for the 200 meters. Lyles holds the 300-meters indoor world best with a time of 31.87 seconds from the 2017 USA Indoor Championships.

Fred Kerley American sprinter

Fredrick Lee Kerley is an American track and field sprinter specializing in the 400 meters distance. Kerley's personal best time of 43.64 seconds makes him the eighth fastest man in history over 400 m.

Kendall Ellis American sprinter

Kendall Ellis is an American sprinter. She competed in the women's 400 metres at the 2017 World Championships in Athletics and 2019 World Athletics Championships. Ellis competed in 2015 Pan American Junior Athletics Championships won gold in the 4×400 m relay and bronze in the 400 meters.

Rai Benjamin American sprinter and hurdler

Rai Benjamin is an American professional hurdler and sprinter specializing in the 400 m and 400 m hurdles. He is the joint third fastest man in history in the 400 m hurdles with a personal best time of 46.98 s, one of only four times in history under 47.00 s. He won a silver medal at his first World Championships in 2019 in the men's 400 m hurdles, and a gold medal in the 4 × 400 m relay at the same competition.

Kahmari Montgomery American sprinter

Kahmari Montgomery is an American track and field sprinter specializing in the 400 m for Nike. He was the men's 400 m champion at the USA Championships in 2018, and at the NCAA Division I Championships in 2019. He represented the United States in the 4 × 400 m relay at the World U20 Championships in 2016 and at the inaugural Athletics World Cup in 2018, earning gold medals in both competitions.

Rebecca Bennett is an Australian 400m sprinter.
