The Universel is a temple of the Sufi Order International, located at The Abode of the Message (in the Berkshire Mountains near New Lebanon) a Universal Sufi community located in a former Shaker village. As well as the temple, there is also a conference centre, campground, forest huts and cabins, offices, retreat grounds, residential spiritual community of the order, Mountain Conference Center and the Abode Organic Farm.

Vilayat Inayat Khan Mystic of the Inayati Order (1916–2004)

Vilayat Inayat Khan was a teacher of meditation and of the traditions of the East Indian Chishti Sufi sect of Sufism. His teaching derived from the tradition of his father, Inayat Khan, founder of The Sufi Order in the West, in a form tailored to the needs of Western seekers. One of his sisters was Noor Inayat Khan GC MBE. He taught in the tradition of universal Sufism, which views all religions as rays of light from the same sun. His parents met at the New York City ashram of American yogi, Pierre Bernard, half-brother of his mother Pirani Ameena Begum.

<i>The Conference of the Birds</i> Persian poem by Sufi poet Attar

The Conference of the Birds or Speech of the Birds is a Persian poem by Sufi poet Farid ud-Din Attar, commonly known as Attar of Nishapur. The title is taken directly from the Qur’an, 27:16, where Sulayman (Solomon) and Dāwūd (David) are said to have been taught the language, or speech, of the birds. Attar’s death, as with his life, is subject to speculation. He is known to have lived and died a violent death in the massacre inflicted by Genghis Khan and the Mongol army on the city of Nishapur in 1221, when he was seventy years old.

Ambika Mata Temple

The Abode of the Message is an Inayati Order community founded in 1975 by Vilayat Inayat Khan. The Abode is the central residential community of the Inayati order, a conference and retreat center, and a center of esoteric study. The Abode is located in the eastern heights of the Taconic Mountains in New Lebanon, New York, and housed in historic Shaker buildings built between 1834 and 1870.

Universel Murad Hassil International Universal Sufi Universel

The Universel Murad Hassil is one of several international Universal Sufi Universels located in Katwijk aan Zee in the Netherlands. It is also labelled a temple. Earlier, it was envisioned as a Sufi shrine or dargah. On numerous occasions it has been used as a public exhibition space and stage. It is considered part of the cultural history of the municipality and a trace of culture in the dunes.

Friedrich von Frankenberg

Friedrich von Frankenberg, born Friedrich Elliot von Frankenberg and also known as Frederick von Frankenberg and by his Sufi name Sheikh Momin, was one of the early founders of Sufism in Australia. Von Frankenberg studied under Inayat Khan, who first brought this mystical order of Islam to the West, before going on to found the first Sufi society in Australia.
