Urban Milwaukee is an online daily that provides real estate, politics, arts and entertainment news about Milwaukee, Wisconsin. [1] The site features approximately 5-10 articles a day focusing on city council hearings, investigative reports, real-estate developments and entertainment news. focusing on dining, arts and entertainment, movies, music and sports.

History

Urban Milwaukee was founded in 2008 by Jeramey Jannene and Dave Reid. [2] Bruce Murphy joined Urban Milwaukee as their editor in 2012. [3] Bruce Murphy was formerly the editor of Milwaukee Magazine and a senior reporter at the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. The publication acquired Third Coast Daily in 2013. [4] [5] Their offices are located at 755 N. Milwaukee Street in the historic Colby Abbot Building. Urban Milwaukee also operates a small retail outlet which sells Milwaukee themed souvenirs and gifts.

Urban Milwaukee and its writer have won a number of Milwaukee Press Club awards. [6] Its coverage of city government and other Milwaukee issues has been recognized by other local and national outlets. [7] As of 2013, the site had 150,000 monthly visits. [8]

The publication will often post stories from Wisconsin Public Radio, Milwaukee Neighborhood News Service and the Wisconsin Examiner.

The mall's original anchor stores were JCPenney, Sears, Boston Store, and Gimbels. Gimbels was sold to Marshall Field's, then H. C. Prange Co., and finally Younkers. The mall underwent a period of decline and was shuttered in 2003.

The Real Deal is a media company with a focus on New York City, South Florida and Los Angeles. The news outlet was started in 2003 by Amir Korangy, and focuses on both commercial and residential real estate. The online and print publication, which serves as a source for other periodicals, was self-proclaimed "the must-read news source for real estate news," in a profile in the Los Angeles Times in 2009, and "the hot sheet for NYC real estate professionals," by the New York Post.

<i>Letter Carriers Monument</i>

The Letter Carriers' Monument is a piece of public art by American artist Elliot Offner, located on a triangular plot formed by North 2nd Street, North Plankinton Avenue and West Wells Street in downtown Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in the United States. Created in 1989, the monument depicts three letter carriers and was commissioned in celebration of the centennial of the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC).

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Port of Milwaukee</span> Port in United States

The Port of Milwaukee, branded as Port Milwaukee, is a port in the city of Milwaukee on Lake Michigan. It primarily serves Southeastern Wisconsin, Southeastern Minnesota, and Northern Illinois. The port owns 13.5 miles (21.7 km) of rail that connect to two Class I railroads outside the port. The port has over 330,000 square feet (31,000 m2) of covered warehouse space, with 30,000 square feet (2,800 m2) of that being heated warehouse space. The port has 50 acres (20 ha) dedicated to dry bulk storage, which includes four domes capable of handling 50,000 tons of storage. Along with this, the port can store 300,000 barrels or 12,600,000 US gallons of bulk liquids. The port keeps a minimum draft of 26 feet (7.9 m), but this can vary due to weather.

The Hop, also known as the Milwaukee Streetcar, is a modern streetcar system in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The system’s 2.1-mile (3.4 km) original “M” line connects the Milwaukee Intermodal Station and Downtown to the Lower East Side and Historic Third Ward neighborhoods. In October 2023, a 0.4-mile (640 m) Lakefront, or “L” line, to the still under-construction high-rise development The Couture, began limited Sunday service, and will offer daily service beginning in early 2024. The system is owned by the city and operated by Transdev.

She is a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly, representing Wisconsin's 8th Assembly district since 2021. She previously served on the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors from 2018 until 2022.

William S. Pocan Jr. is an American lawyer and jurist serving as deputy chief judge of the 1st district of Wisconsin circuit courts. He has served as a Wisconsin circuit court judge in Milwaukee County since 2006. In 2021, he was nominated by U.S. President Joe Biden to serve as a United States district judge for the Eastern District of Wisconsin, but his nomination expired without a hearing at the end of the 117th Congress.

Iron District Stadium is an 8,000-seat soccer-specific stadium currently under construction in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Once completed, it will be home to the city's yet-to-be-named USL Championship club and the Marquette Golden Eagles soccer and lacrosse teams. The stadium will be located in the city's Westown neighborhood on the corner of N. 6th St. and W. Michigan St. and is expected to be completed in 2024.

He is a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly, representing Wisconsin's 19th Assembly district since January 2023. He is also a member of the Milwaukee County board of supervisors. He is a member of the Democratic Party ticket and the Democratic Socialists of America.

He previously served 20 years on the Milwaukee Common Council and was an unsuccessful candidate for mayor of Milwaukee in 2016 and 2022.
