Urdu Academy, Andhra Pradesh is an educational institution developing the Urdu language and preserving the Urdu tradition and culture in Andhra Pradesh. It was established in the year 1982. The main focus of the Academy was[ clarification needed ] . [2]

The academy is a subsidiary of the Ministry of Minorities affairs, and is under the direct control of the ministry as well. [3]

History

The former Andhra Pradesh government established this academy. It organized many cultural and educational programs. The academy's headquarters were in Vijayawada City. [3]

In January 2018, the designation of its President and Vice President were changed to chairman and Vice- Chairman. Its budget is increasing from 29.9 million rupees to 58.6 million.

The functions of the Academy are specified in the Memorandum of Association of the Constitution of Urdu Academy.

Nellore is a city located on the banks of Penna River, in Nellore district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. Vizianagaram district is one of the nine districts in the Coastal Andhra region of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh with its headquarters located at Vizianagaram. Kurnool District is one of the four districts in the Rayalaseema region of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. The district is located in the west-central part of the state and is bounded by Mahabubnagar district of Telangana in the north, Raichur district of Karnataka in the northwest, Bellary district of Karnataka in the west, Ananthapur district in the south, YSR Kadapa district in the South East and Prakasham district in the east. The city of Kurnool is the headquarters of the district. It has a population of 4,053,463 of which 28.35% were urban as of 2011.
