The Blue Hearts was a Japanese punk rock band active from 1985 to 1995. They have been compared to such bands as the Sex Pistols, The Clash and the Ramones. The Yokohama Municipal Subway Blue Line is a rapid transit line serving Yokohama in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. It is the longer of the two lines in the Yokohama Municipal Subway system operated by Yokohama City Transportation Bureau, and is the second-longest subway line in Japan at 40.4 kilometers (25.1 mi) in length, surpassed only by the 40.7-kilometer (25.3 mi) long Toei Oedo Line in Tokyo. Unlike most metro lines in Japan, it uses third rail for power instead of overhead lines. It is the most recent newly built steel-wheel railway line in Japan to do so.

Blue Hole is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Yukinobu Hoshino. It was serialized in Kodansha's seinen manga magazine Mr. Magazine from 1991 to 1992, with its chapters collected in two tankōbon volumes. A sequel, titled Blue World, was serialized in Monthly Afternoon from 1995 to 1997, with its chapters collected in four volumes. The story is about the discovery of a gateway in time and space deep underwater which allows for travel between the present day and the age of the dinosaurs.

"Blue Hearts Theme" was the fourth single by the Japanese band The Blue Hearts. Though it was released after their major debut, it was written before they signed with a major label. It was released as a "double A-side" track on July 1, 1988, with "Chernobyl" (チェルノブイリ), a controversial single that was included with the release. Lyrics and music were written by Hiroto Kōmoto, the band's lead vocalist, and was arranged by The Blue Hearts. It was not included in any albums other than compilation albums. The track is 9 minutes 17 seconds in length.

His work Perfect Blue: Complete Metamorphosis was the basis for the 1997 Satoshi Kon anime film Perfect Blue and a 2002 live-action film titled Perfect Blue: Yume Nara Samete. Takeuchi's book Ultraman Visits the Grave is about a young boy who happens to be a fan of Ultraman. Takeuchi has expressed interest in getting his work translated for an English-speaking audience. Seven Seas Entertainment has optioned the English-language rights to the Perfect Blue novels for Q4 2017 and Q1 2018, respectively.
