Utkal Ranjan Sahoo (20 June 1964) is an Indian Police Service officer of 1988 batch of Rajasthan cadre. He is current Director General of Police (DGP) of Rajasthan. He previously held position of Director General (DG) Home Guards. He started his career as an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) of Jodhpur East in 1991. He is recipient of President’s Police Medal (2017) and Police Medal (2005). [1] [2] [3] [4]

The DGP is responsible for overseeing the entire police force and law enforcement activities within their respective jurisdiction. The DGP is usually appointed by the state government and works closely with other law enforcement agencies and government officials to uphold the rule of law and protect citizens' rights.
