Production
Actor Sean Connery was playing on the same golf course while shooting the golf scene in the film. The working group thought of inviting him into the film for a small cameo role, but in the end none of the members of the working group wanted to invite the "great legend" into the film (although Ere Kokkonen later mentions in his memoirs that despite the request, Connery would have politely refused the cameo role). In 2015, Vesa-Matti Loiri recalled the same situation and said this:
- Think of the situation where the golfball is placed in a low tree, between the branches. The guys are setting up the cameras and Pappa Jyrälä is looking for a recording location, and it's so damn hot and tiring and its a little annoying. I'm standing in a full Turhapuro mask, and the sun was so hot that even the squares of the net shirt burned into the skin. I see three big players walking by, and one of them stops to look and ask: you're making a movie? I say with a frown is it look like it. Then it goes away of course and I realize it's Sean Connery. Damn it. There was nothing diva in it, he kindly asked about it. I behaved stupidly and lost perhaps an interesting conversation.
In bullfight scene, at first they tried to use a local actor in the role of Uuno but he wasn't funny enough, so Vesa-Matti Loiri decided to try it himself. The film also features Loiri's Nasse-setä character and the invention of the sports car drivers from Pori, the "two-spoke car". The film was shot at the Hotel Del Golf in Marbella.
Pertti Olavi "Spede" Pasanen was a Finnish film director and producer, comedian, and inventor. During his career he directed, wrote, produced or acted in about 50 movies and participated in numerous TV productions, including the comedy Spede Show and the game-show Speden Spelit. Much of his more commercial work was in collaboration with Vesa-Matti Loiri and Simo Salminen. Pasanen's films and TV shows, often made quickly and on a low budget, usually received little critical recognition but were popular among Finnish audiences from the 1960s onwards. He was the owner of his own film production company, Filmituotanto Spede Pasanen Ky.
Vesa-Matti "Vesku" Loiri was a Finnish actor, musician and comedian, best known for his role as Uuno Turhapuro, whom he portrayed in a total of 20 movies between the years 1973 and 2004.

Uuno Turhapuro armeijan leivissä is a 1984 Finnish comedy and the ninth film in the Uuno Turhapuro film series starring Vesa-Matti Loiri as the title character, Spede Pasanen as the potty-mouthed mechanic Härski Hartikainen, and Simo Salminen as their constant companion Sörsselssön. It is to date the highest-grossing Finnish comedy and not too surprisingly the most well known in the Turhapuro series. The title refers to Pasanen's 1968 film Noin seitsemän veljestä, though the movie does not otherwise link to it in any way. Neither has it anything to do with the cartoon character Speedy Gonzales.

Elisabeth Unelma Turhapuro is a fictional character played by Marjatta Raita in Finnish comedy films, the Uuno Turhapuro series, directed by Spede Pasanen and Ere Kokkonen. She is part of the cast who appear in all Uuno Turhapuro films and TV series. The exception being Uuno Turhapuron veli, where the main character Uuno Turhapuro played by Vesa-Matti Loiri did not appear. Uuno debuted in 1973 in a sketch on the Spede Show, as half of a still nameless couple who had a premature argument about how to use their lottery money.
Nasse-setä is a Finnish sketch comedy character who appeared on the shows Spede Show and Vesku Show in the 1980s and 1990s, played by Vesa-Matti Loiri. Nasse-setä was the host of a children's television show, who hated children, and was nearly always drunk. His distinguishing features included a garishly-coloured jacket, a clown's nose made of a table tennis ball, and a yellowed Finnish matriculation cap. His catch phrase was Nasse-setä on hyvin hyvin vihainen, which became popular throughout Finland.

It was developed by the Finnish programmer Pasi Hytönen in 1986 and published by Amersoft, one of the first game publishers in Finland. It is regarded as the first commercially successful Finnish video game, in part due to its subject matter and "near-sadistic difficulty".
