V. A. Dilshad (known in industry circles as Pippy) was an Indian cinematographer who worked in Hindi cinema, Malayalam, Kannada, Marathi and English-language films.

On 27 May 2021, Dilshad died in Mumbai after being hospitalised, over a month for COVID-19. [1] [2]

Career

Dilshad started his career as an assistant and associate cameraman to Ramachandra Babu for more than 40 films. Later he joined with Ravi Yadav as second operative cameraman for various Bollywood films directed by Abbas–Mustan like Race 2 , Players , Race , Naqaab and Aitraaz .

His Hindi debut, The Waiting Room directed by Maneej Premnath, was reviewed as "master cinematography that captures the mood almost perfectly". [3] [1] [4] [5] He also completed the Marathi film Antar produced by actor Akshay Kumar and the English film The Black Russian, which won the Best Cinematography award at the 2014 Action on Film Festival. [6]

Dilshad cranked the camera for Kapil Sharma's debut Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon and Machine starring newcomer Mustafa Burmawalla and Kiara Advani, both films directed by Abbas–Mustan [7] [8] Dilshad has also completed two films; Escape from Black Water (English) and Fatwa (Marathi), that will have a theatrical release in 2022.

He started shooting Tamil feature films with his batch mates and friends. Ravi did his debut film independently, without assisting any film maker or cinematographer. <i>Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon</i> 2015 film by Abbas Mustan

Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon is a 2015 Indian Hindi-language comedy film directed by Abbas Mustan. Stand-up comedian Kapil Sharma made his Bollywood debut with this movie, as did actress Sai Lokur and supporting actress Jamie Lever. Other cast members include Arbaaz Khan, Manjari Fadnis, Simran Kaur Mundi, Elli Avram, Varun Sharma, Supriya Pathak, Sharat Saxena, Manoj Joshi and Sharad Sankla. Kapil Sharma was to have previously appeared in Yash Raj's film Bank Chor, but he opted out of it. The music is composed by Tanishk Bagchi, Dr Zeus, Javed Mohsin and Amjad Nadim. The film garnered controversy over keeping names on Hindus gods. The film was served with legal notice citing similarities to a Kannada film, Nimbehuli produced by Subhash Ghai.

Javed- Mohsin are the first cousins related from their maternal side. Javed Khan’s father was a tabla player Late Ustad Sharafat Ali Khan and Mohsin Shaikh’s father is a writer Mustafa Shaikh. Javed–Mohsin’s maternal grandfather was Late Ustad Fayyaz Ahmed Khan from Kirana Gharana.
