V. Ramankutty (also known as V. Raman Kutty) is an Indian health economist, and epidemiologist, currently research director of Amala Cancer Research Centre, Amala Institute of Medical Sciences, Thrissur and an emeritus professor at the Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology. He is the son of former Chief Minister of Kerala, C. Achutha Menon. [1] [2] [3]
Upon receiving his 1983 MD in pediatrics, Ramankutty became Consultant Pediatrician in Archana Hospital, Thodupuzha in 1983 and later joined the department of Pediatrics in Government Medical College, Thrissur as Tutor. He then obtained a Master of Philosophy ( 1987) from Jawaharlal Nehru University, and a Master of Public health M.P.H. (1988) from Harvard University,
He joined AMCHSS, Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology as a research scientist in 1988 and was promoted to Scientist D SCTIMST in 1993. He then left SCTIMST in 1997 where he worked as an Associate professor from 1994. He joined Health Action by People in Thiruvananthapuram in 1997 as executive director. From 2002 to 2003 he worked as a Domain Expert (Health) in Fiscal Reforms Project, Government of Kerala.
He returned to academics and joined as a Professor in St Johns Institute of Population Health, Bengaluru in 2003. After a year he became Domain Expert and consultant, Modernising Government Programme (Project of Government of Kerala) (2004 to 2006); he was then an Independent Consultant for one year (2006–2007) in SOMA after which he rejoined AMCHSS SCTIMST, Trivandrum as a professor ad stayed until retirement.
Ramankutty officially retired as a professor from Achuta Menon Centre for Health Science Studies, SCTIMST on 31 December 2018. He was then elevated to the status of Emeritus Professor'.

Sree Padmanabhadasa Sree Chithira Thirunal Balarama Varma, popularly known as Sree Chithira Thirunal, was the last ruling Maharaja of the Indian princely state of Travancore, in southern India until 1949 and later the Titular Maharajah of Travancore until 1991. N. Krishna Pillai was an Indian dramatist, literary critic, translator and historian of Malayalam language. Known for his realism and dramatic portrayal of psycho-social tensions, Pillai's plays earned him the moniker, Kerala Ibsen. He was a recipient of the Sahitya Akademi Award, Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award for Drama, Odakkuzhal Award, Vayalar Award and Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi Award, besides other honours. The Kerala Sahitya Akademi inducted him as a distinguished fellow in 1979.
Dr. C. O. Karunakaran, a notable bacteriologist and microbiologist was the founder of Government Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram. He was the first principal of the college and was also the Special Officer appointed for establishing the first medical university in the erstwhile state of Travancore-Cochin.

Mary Poonen Lukose was an Indian gynecologist, obstetrician and the first female Surgeon General in India. She was the founder of a Tuberculosis Sanatorium in Nagarcoil and the X-Ray and Radium Institute, Thiruvananthapuram, served as the head of the Health Department in the Princely State of Travancore and was the first woman legislator of the state. Madakasira Vasantha Padma Srivastava is an Indian neurologist, medical academic and writer, and the professor of neurology at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi. She is known for pioneering Acute Stroke Programme (Code-Red), a medical initiative for supporting patients afflicted with epilepsy and stroke, incorporating Hyperacute Reperfusion strategies including the thrombolysis program. The Government of India awarded her the fourth highest civilian honour of the Padma Shri, in 2016, for her contributions to medical science.
Madhavan Radhakrishna Pillai is an Indian cancer biologist and the former director of the Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology. Known for his studies on papilloma viruses, Pillai is an elected fellow of the Indian Academy of Sciences, National Academy of Sciences, India, Royal College of Pathologists and the National Academy of Medical Sciences. The Department of Biotechnology of the Government of India awarded him the National Bioscience Award for Career Development, one of the highest Indian science awards, for his contributions to biosciences in 2002.
Ashalatha Radhakrishnan is an Indian neurologist and a professor of neurology at the Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology. Her research on various neurological disorders have been documented by a number of articles. She has also contributed to several books, including Status Epilepticus: Practical Guidelines in Management, a handbook on Status epilepticus. She was the convener of workshop on epilepsy at the Monsoon Summit 2017 organized by the Kerala Association of Neurologists. The Department of Biotechnology of the Government of India awarded her the National Bioscience Award for Career Development, one of the highest Indian science awards, for her contributions to biosciences, in 2010.
Bio 360 Life Sciences Park is a Biotechnology and Life Sciences park in the city of Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India. Established in 2013, by the Government of Kerala, the Phase I of the park is spread over 75 acres (30 ha). Kurupath Radhakrishnan is an Indian neurologist and epileptologist, who has established R Madhavan Nayar Center for Comprehensive Epilepsy Care, (RMNC) at Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute of Medical Sciences and Technology (SCTIMST) Thiruvananthapuram, India. He has contributed for the resurgence of epilepsy surgery in India during 1990s, after the decline in 1970s. He also served as the director of SCTIMST from 2009 - 2013. After his retirement he worked at the Department of Neurology, Kasturba Medical College, Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal, Karnataka, India; and at the Department of Neurology, Amrita Advanced Epilepsy Center, Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Cochin, Kerala, India. Currently he is working as a senior Consultant, Department of Neurosciences, Avitis Institute of Medical Sciences, Nemmara, Palakkad, Kerala, India.
Lizymol Philipose Pamadykandathil is an Indian dental materials scientist. Her work has been recognised with a Nari Shakti Puraskar - the highest civilian honour exclusively for women in India.
Jeemon Panniyammakal is a faculty member in the Achutha Menon Centre for Health Science Studies (AMCHSS) in Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India. Jeemon Panniyammakal has made significant contributions to public health in general and in particular to prevention and control of cardiovascular diseases and diabetes in India. He was awarded the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize for Science and Technology in Medical Sciences in the year 2021 for his contributions to public health. In his research, he has been supported with grants from several global organisations including Wellcome Trust, Medical Research Council (UK), National Health and Medical Research Council (Australia), National Institutes of Health (USA) and International Diabetes Federation.
