VC Shakhtar Donetsk is a volleyball club from Donetsk. It won the Soviet Volleyball Championship in 1992, and was the last to do so. [1]
The club was formed in 1983, and after finishing second in the 1983/84 second tier season, the club got promoted, and played 5 seasons in that the top Soviet league. The club finished runner-up in 1990/91, and as a champion in 1991/92/ [2] [3]
Except the 1992 championship, it was a runner up in 1991. Almost the whole championship line-up left to clubs abroad [3]
The team also won the first two (1992, 1993) Ukrainian championships, and finished third once (1995), but in 1997 after releasing players due to financial difficulties the club finished last in the league and was relegated. In 1998 the club finished 10th in the second tear, and was shut down.[ citation needed ]
Football Club Shakhtar Donetsk is a Ukrainian professional football club from the city of Donetsk. In 2014, due to the War in Donbas, the club was forced to move to Lviv, and had played matches in Lviv (2014–2016) and in Kharkiv (2017–2020) whilst having its office headquarters and training facilities in Kyiv. In May 2020, Shakhtar started to play home matches at NSC Olimpiyskyi in Kyiv.

The club is the most titled volleyball team in the Soviet Union / Russia and in Europe with 13 CEV Champions Leagues. In 2009, VC CSKA Moscow was disbanded due to financial problems.
Odbojkarski klub Nova KBM Branik, commonly referred to as OK Nova KBM Branik, is a professional women's volleyball team based in Maribor that competes in the Slovenian Volleyball League. Formed in 1946, they are the most successful Slovenian women's volleyball team, winning the Slovenian League 16 times, Slovenian Cup 19 times and the regional MEVZA League 4 times. Before Slovenia's independence in 1991, the team won the Yugoslav Championship four times and reached the Yugoslav Cup final on eight occasions.
Alexandru Spiridon is a former professional footballer and current football manager from Moldova. Spiridon played as a midfielder during his football career, winning the Moldovan Footballer of the Year award in 1992. He made 16 appearances for the national team, scoring one goal. He worked as the assistant manager at Russian club Zenit St. Petersburg, joining the club in 2016 with manager Mircea Lucescu.
Yuri Koroviansky was a Ukrainian volleyball player who competed for the Unified Team in the 1992 Summer Olympics. He was 194 cm tall. He was French citizen from 2011 until his death.
