VOA1 is a music radio service that is operated by Voice of America, an American international broadcasting company. Voice of America is headquartered in Washington, D.C. VOA's service primarily include continuous 24-hour online webcasts on stations internationally. Additionally, VOA1 is prominently featured on the primary feed of VOA radio.

Contents

The programming on VOA1 primarily follows a Top 40 music format, with 5-minute newscasts presented at the start of each hour.

History

In 1985, VOA Europe was established as a special radio service in English, accessible through satellite to AM, FM, as well as cable affiliates throughout Europe. With a contemporary format including live disc jockeys, the network presented top musical hits , VOA news, and features of local interest 24 hours a day.

VOA Europe was closed down without public notice in January 1997 as a cost-cutting measure. It was succeeded by VOA Express, which, from July 4, 1999, was revamped into VOA Music Mix. On November 1, 2014, VOA Music Mix was rebranded as VOA1. [1] [2]

American Top 40 is an internationally syndicated, independent song countdown radio program created by Casey Kasem, Don Bustany, Tom Rounds, and Ron Jacobs. The program is currently hosted by Ryan Seacrest and presented as an adjunct to his weekday radio program, On Air with Ryan Seacrest.

AIR FM Rainbow is a group of FM radio channels across India. The group of stations was previously called FM Metro, but the name was changed to FM Rainbow in 2002. The group is run by All India Radio, or AIR, a government owned enterprise. It features Hindi and regional language songs, while also playing English music and providing hourly news in English, regional language and/or Hindi. In Bhopal, FM Rainbow broadcasts in Hindi to more than 12 districts of Madhya Pradesh and 21 Bhopal City suburbs. AIR FM Rainbow Delhi airs in as many as ten cities, more than any of the other FM Rainbow frequencies. Mumbai, Lucknow, Vizag, Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Kakinada, Kochi and Bangalore all receive FM Rainbow transmissions on a variety of frequencies.

KMXG is a commercial radio station licensed to Clinton, Iowa, and serving the Quad Cities area of Iowa and Illinois. It broadcasts an adult contemporary radio format, switching to Christmas music from mid-November until the Christmas holidays. KMXG is owned by iHeartMedia, Inc., with studios and offices in Davenport, Iowa, along with co-owned KUUL-FM, WLLR-FM, KCQQ-FM, WFXN and WOC.

Classical 24 is a syndicated, satellite-delivered public radio service providing classical music to its carrying stations. It generally airs overnights on many non-commercial and a handful of commercial classical music stations. However, the service is operated 24 hours a day and is used by some stations during the day to augment their schedules. It was co-created by a partnership between Minnesota Public Radio and Public Radio International to fulfill the need for a comprehensive classic music service for stations to supplement their schedules. As part of this partnership, the service is produced by American Public Media and since 2018, is distributed by Public Radio Exchange. It began operation on December 1, 1995.

Monocle Radio is a mainly speech-based internet radio station, broadcasting from Monocle's headquarters at Midori House in London, England. On weekdays, the station produces three hours of live, current affairs-based programmes. It also broadcasts weekly shows on business; culture; design; food and hospitality; print media and urbanism. Music fills the rest of the schedule, hosted by Monocle staff. Monocle 24 was launched in October 2011 and broadcasts in English, primarily from London, but with an international focus. It is a brand extension of Monocle, a magazine founded in 2007 by Canadian journalist and entrepreneur Tyler Brûlé. Around 80% of listening is via download, 20% via live streaming. In 2016, the station reported a weekly listenership of about 1 million.
