Valentina Magaletti is a multi-genre drummer, percussionist, improviser and composer based in London.

Magaletti was born in Bari, Italy. She lives in London, UK. [1]

Career

She has collaborated and performed with London experimental electronic project Raime (with whom they form the band Moin), Charles Hayward, Nicolas Jaar, Jandek, Helm, Malcolm Catto, Lafawndah, Bat for Lashes, and Gruff Rhys (Super Furry Animals). [2] Her influences include Ikue Mori, Georgia Hubley, Jaki Liebezeit, Milford Graves, Elvin Jones, Tony Buck, Charles Hayward, Billy Higgins, Han Bennink, and Art Blakey. [3]

Her principal project was as one half of the duo Tomaga with bassist/multi-instrumentalist Tom Relleen. [4] She is also a member of Moin and of the [5] experimental pop quintet Vanishing Twin, the duo V/Z with Zongamin and the supergroup UUUU, along with Graham Lewis (Wire) and Thighpaulsandra (Coil). [6] In 2017, she played drums as part of surviving Can member Irmin Schmidt's The Can Project, based around Schmidt's orchestral reimagining of classic Can songs and themes with an ensemble. [7] She and percussionist and sculptor João Pais Filipe released their first album as CZN (Copper, Zinc and Nickel) The Golden Path in 2018, [8] and a collaborative release with Swiss percussionist and composer Julian Sartorius, Sulla Pelle, followed in 2019. [9]

Timothy Lewis – best known by the stage name Thighpaulsandra – is a Welsh experimental musician and multi-instrumentalist, known mostly for performing on synthesizers and keyboards. He began his career working with Julian Cope in the late 1980s, becoming a member of Cope's touring band. A collaboration with Cope in 1993 followed, forming the experimental duo Queen Elizabeth. In 1997, former Cope guitarist Mike Mooney invited Thighpaulsandra to fill in for the departing Kate Radley on a Spiritualized tour, and he remained with the band until early 2008. In 1998, Lewis also became a member of the experimental band Coil. He has subsequently released several solo albums under the Thighpaulsandra moniker.
