Valerian Cristea (born 1 August 1950) is a Moldovan politician and diplomat,currently serving as Deputy Mayor of Orhei. [1] [2] In 1998,Cristea was elected to the Parliament of Moldova as a Party of Communists of the Republic of Moldova candidate and was re-elected in 2001. [3] He was the Deputy Prime Minister from 2001 to 2006. [2] He was also the ambassador of Moldova to the Czech Republic from 2007 to 2009.[ citation needed ] Cristea studied at the Technical University of Moldova. [2]
Orhei,also formerly known as Orgeev,is a city,municipality and the administrative centre of Orhei District in the Republic of Moldova,with a population of 21,065. Orhei is approximately 40 kilometres north of the capital,Chișinău.

An indirect presidential election was held in Moldova on 4 April 2001. The Party of Communists of the Republic of Moldova (PCRM) won 50.07% of the vote and 71 of the 101 seats in the February 2001 parliamentary election;by this time the constitution had been changed to provide for election of the President through the Parliament rather than popular vote. In March,the PCRM's Central Committee nominated Vladimir Voronin as its presidential candidate at a plenum,and on April 4,2001 Voronin was elected as President by the Parliament. Of the 89 deputies participating in the vote,71 voted for Voronin,15 voted for Dumitru Braghiş,and three voted for Valerian Cristea. He was sworn in at a ceremony in Chişinău on April 7,2001. The Constitutional Court ruled that the President could also lead a political party,and Voronin was re-elected as the PCRM's leader.

Ilan Shor is an Israeli-born Moldovan pro-Russian oligarch and politician. Shor was a key figure in the 2014 Moldovan bank fraud scandal,where approximately $1 billion was transferred out of Moldovan banks for loans that would not be repaid,resulting in a total loss equivalent to 12% of Moldova's GDP and the arrest of former Prime Minister Vlad Filat. In June 2017,he was sentenced to 7.5 years of prison in absentia for fraud and money laundering and on 14 April 2023 his sentence was increased to 15 years. All of Shor's Moldovan assets were also frozen. After spending time under house arrest he fled to Israel in 2019,where he lived until 2024. He resides in Russia,a country whose citizenship he received in 2024.

Previously,he was Deputy Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure (Moldova) from June 2013 to April 2015,and then,general director of the State Enterprise "Calea Feratădin Moldova" in April–July 2015.
Ion Ceban is a Moldovan politician and the current mayor of Chișinău,Moldova's capital. He is also the leader of the pro-European National Alternative Movement party. Ceban was Vice President of the Parliament of Moldova in 2019 and has served as a member of parliament in three legislatures. From 2015 to 2019,he led his party's faction in the Chișinău Municipal Council. He has held different positions at the governmental level,ranging from department head to Deputy Minister.
Parliamentary elections are scheduled to be held in the Czech Republic by October 2025. All 200 members of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Republic,the lower house of the Parliament,will be elected and the leader of the resultant government will become the Prime Minister.
