Valletta Contemporary

Valletta Contemporary (VC) [1] is an independent exhibition space located in Valletta, Malta, which opened in April 2018. Operated by the Norbert Francis Attard Foundation (formerly META Foundation), the gallery is housed in a renovated warehouse on East Street close to St. Barbara Bastions and the Lower Barrakka Gardens. Art space

Valletta Contemporary operates as a non-profit art space [4] [5] and is affiliated with the contemporary art platform Ocula. [6]

The gallery was founded by artist and architect Norbert Francis Attard, who also oversees its operations. [2] The exhibition space was developed over ten years by converting three adjoining historic warehouses. [7] [8]

Valletta Contemporary hosts exhibitions featuring local and international contemporary artists. Notable exhibitions include:

VC Editions

The VC Editions program commissions the production of contemporary artwork from select artists for display and sale exclusively through the gallery. The program's stated goal is to provide support for local and international artists and to maintain existing relationships between VC and artists whose work is already exhibited in the gallery. Events

In December 2019, Valletta Contemporary hosted the MET(a) Gala, a fundraising event featuring contemporary art and fashion. [19] [20]

In October of the same year, the MICAS International Art Weekend included talks held at the gallery with speakers such as Sir Norman Foster. [21]
