Vance Philip Albitz (born January 31,1988) is an American professional baseball player who was an infielder for the St. Louis Cardinals and Los Angeles Angels for five seasons. He played college baseball for the University of California,San Diego.
Albitz played baseball all four years at South High School in Torrance,California. He was a two-time all-state selection for baseball and a three-year letterman on the basketball team. Albitz was voted South High School's "Athlete of the Year" in 2005 and 2006.
At the University of California,San Diego in La Jolla,California,Albitz was a walk-on player for coach Dan O'Brien's UC San Diego baseball team in the fall of 2006;he later earned an athletic scholarship. A standout in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA),he was a first-team All-CCAA selection in 2007 and 2008,a first-team All-American in 2009 and 2010,a three-time Gold Glove winner at shortstop (2008-2010),and the first back-to-back two-time "National Defensive Player of the Year" in Triton baseball history. Albitz was a member of the 2009 Tritons squad that finished third in the Division II College World Series and the 2010 team that finished second.
Albitz's contract was sold by the Lincoln Saltdogs of the American Association of Professional Baseball to the St. Louis Cardinals on August 24,2011. Albitz finished the final 13 games of the season in Batavia,NY for the Batavia Muckdogs [1] where he hit .283 and committed just one error at shortstop. In 2012,Albitz began the year with the Palm Beach Cardinals of the Florida State League and progressed his way up to the AAA Memphis Redbirds,finishing the year as a member of the 2012 Texas League Champion Springfield Cardinals. In 2013,Albitz began and ended the year in AAA with the Memphis Redbirds. In 2014,Albitz was released by the Cardinals at the conclusion of Spring Training.
Albitz signed a free agent contract with the Angels in 2014. In 206 at-bats,Albitz hit .325 for the AAA Salt Lake City Bees of the Pacific Coast League and finished with a .990 fielding percentage. Before the start of the 2015 season,Albitz was released by the Angels.
Albitz was born in Torrance,California to parents Phil and Velma,and brother Clete. Albitz made national news in 2012 when his charity,Gloves 4 Troops, [2] was publicized by ESPN sports writer Rick Reilly. [3] His foundation was given publicity on a number of different television programs,most notably Hot Stove [4] on MLB Network and GameChangers [5] on CBS. Since 2012,Albitz has sent over 3,124 baseball gloves to American soldiers stationed in more than 20 countries around the world. Albitz presently lives in Torrance,California with his wife and 3 children.

Eckstein stood at 5' 6" during his playing career,which made him the shortest active player for the years he played.

Andrew John Rincon was a former Major League Baseball pitcher from Monterey Park,California. A multi-sport athlete in high school,Andy was a two-time All-CIF baseball player and was the 1977 CIF Southern Section Player of the Year in baseball at St. Paul High School in Santa Fe Springs California,where he played alongside future MLB player and coach Mike Gallego. He was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 5th round of the 1977 Major League Baseball Draft. He was a "September Call-up" in 1980. He started four games,going 3–1 with a 2.61 ERA. This earned him another brief look the next year,when he had a similar 3–1 record,this time with a 1.77 ERA in five starts. That season,he was hit in his pitching arm by a line drive by Phil Garner,thus hampering his career. In 1982,Rincon started six games and relieved in five games,finishing with a 2–3 record and 4.73 ERA for a Cardinals team that would go on to win the World Series. His final MLB appearance was on May 22,1982. He finished the 1982 season with the Cardinals' AAA affiliate,the Louisville Redbirds. In 1983,he went 1-2 with a 4.65 ERA in 6 appearances for the Redbirds. The Cardinals released him at the end of 1983. The San Diego Padres signed him that offseason,but he never pitched in the majors again. He continued to pitch in the minor leagues,compiling a 50-55 record with a 4.04 ERA in 172 appearances from 1977 to 1989,playing for the Calgary Cardinals,Gastonia Cardinals,St. Petersburg Cardinals,Arkansas Travelers,Springfield Redbirds,Louisville Redbirds,Nashua Pirates,Hawaii Islanders,Aguascalientes Rieleros and Fresno Suns. He threw a no-hitter for the Islanders in 1984. In his final professional season in 1989,Andy went 1-0 in 11 relief appearances for the Arkansas Travelers.
David Richard Freese is an American former professional baseball third baseman. He began his Major League Baseball (MLB) career with the St. Louis Cardinals in 2009,where,two seasons later,he was a key player during the 2011 postseason,batting .545 with 12 hits in the 2011 National League Championship Series (NLCS). At the time,he also set an MLB postseason record of 21 runs batted in (RBIs),which earned him the NLCS MVP Award and World Series MVP Award. In addition,Freese won the Babe Ruth Award,naming him the MVP of the 2011 MLB postseason. He also played for the Los Angeles Angels,Pittsburgh Pirates,and Los Angeles Dodgers.
