Vanguard Personality of the Year Awards is an annual award organized by Vanguard (Newspapers) to honour distinguished Nigerians who have excelled in their chosen careers. The event premiered between 2007 and 2008 as the Bankers' award. It was on hold for four years until 2012, when it was re-introduced and rebranded as Vanguard Personality of the Year Awards. In 2022, the event celebrated its 10th edition in Lagos, Nigeria. Past recipients of the award include; Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Adegboyega Oyetola, Godwin Obaseki, Abdullahi Sule, Rotimi Akeredolu, and Afe Babalola.

The Lagos Countdown, renamed One Lagos Fiesta in 2015 and now Greater Lagos Fiesta, is an annual New Year's Eve event at the Bar Beach in Lagos. The event lasts for 21–23 days and traditionally begins on the 7th or 8 December and lasts through January 1 of the new year. The first Lagos Countdown was held in 2012 as an attempt to drive up tourism and make an event similar to New Year's events in New York, Sydney, and other major cities, and in 2013 an estimated 200,000 people celebrated the event during a ten-day period and earned the city about one billion naira.

Ijakumo is a 2022 suspense thriller produced by Toyin Abraham and had its theatrical release on 23 December 2022. Isimi Lagos is a planned city of Lagos State, Nigeria, under construction in Epe Town. The new city is designed to house up to 10,000 residents, with a completion timeline set to 2030. The city covers a land area of over 300 hectares (3,000,000m²) and is developed by Landwey Investment Limited. The city's name, 'Isimi', means 'Peace of Mind' in Yoruba language.
