The show began on 2 January 2006 and is broadcast on MediaCorp Channel U. It is a spin-off of Project SuperStar, and contestants comprise students from secondary schools, junior colleges and institutes of technical education.

It is based upon the Dutch series of the same name, it premiered on Network Ten on 23 April 2001 and lasted twelve weeks until the live finale on 16 July 2001. Big Brother 1 proved to be an early ratings success. In total, the season averaged 1.4 million viewers, thus making it the fourth highest rated season to date. This season aired for a total of 85 days, with evictions occurring once every week beginning with the second week. In total, fourteen Housemates competed in Big Brother 1. The original twelve entered on the first night, with two intruders entering at a later date. Ultimately, Housemate Ben Williams was later announced as the winner of the series, with Blair McDonough becoming the Runner-Up.

The series started airing on 24 February 2008 on Top Channel and it has had nine seasons to date. Arbana Osmani hosted the first seven seasons and the ninth season. Ledion Liço hosted the eighth season as Osmani was pregnant and took time off to be with her family.

Big Brother 2011, also known as Big Brother 12, was the twelfth series of the British reality television series Big Brother and the first not to be broadcast on Channel 4. It was broadcast on Channel 5 for the first time since the show's transfer from Channel 4. It launched on 9 September 2011 with an hour and a half-long special launch show, the day after the final of Celebrity Big Brother 8. It was hosted by Brian Dowling, the winner of Big Brother 2 and Ultimate Big Brother. The series ran for 64 days, ending on 11 November 2011 when the winner, Aaron Allard-Morgan, won half of the £100,000 prize fund, with the remainder split between the five finalists. The runner up was Jay McKray.
Celebrity Big Brother 2012, also known as Celebrity Big Brother 9, was the ninth series of the British reality television series Celebrity Big Brother. It began on 5 January 2012 and ended on 27 January 2012. It was the second Celebrity series to air on Channel 5 as part of the channel's then two-year contract with the show and the ninth series of the show to air overall. The series was sponsored by Plusnet. This was the first of two series of Celebrity Big Brother to air in 2012.
The seventh series of Dancing on Ice aired from on 8 January to 25 March 2012 on ITV. Phillip Schofield returned as presenter, but Holly Willoughby was replaced by Christine Bleakley. Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean returned to mentor the celebrities, with Karen Barber returning as head coach. This series was judged by The Ice Panel by Louie Spence, Robin Cousins and Katarina Witt. Spence and Witt joined The Ice Panel as replacements for former judges, Jason Gardiner and Emma Bunton. The show moved back to its original location of Elstree Studios, which was used during the show's first five series, but still used the same layout as introduced in last series.
Big Brother 2012, also known as Big Brother 13, was the thirteenth series of the British reality television series Big Brother, and the second series to broadcast on Channel 5. The series premiered with a live launch on 5 June 2012 and ran for 70 days, concluding on 13 August 2012. The series was originally planned to run for thirteen weeks, but was cut back to ten weeks in order to accommodate Celebrity Big Brother 10. The series was won by Luke Anderson, who won half of the £100,000 prize fund, with the remainder taken by Conor McIntyre as part of the White Room twist. Anderson is the second transgender contestant to win the show, the first being Nadia Almada who won the show back in 2004. The runner-up was Adam Kelly. The series was announced in April 2011 when Channel 5 signed a two-year contract to air the show. With Big Brother 12 having been broadcast in autumn 2011, this is the first series to air in the show's regular summer period on Channel 5 since it acquired the show from Channel 4 in 2011.
Celebrity Big Brother 10 was the tenth series of the British reality television series Celebrity Big Brother. It launched on 15 August 2012, two days after the final of Big Brother 13, and aired on Channel 5 and 5* for 24 days until 7 September 2012. It was the third celebrity series to air on Channel 5 as part of a contract extension of the current two-year contract with Endemol, and the fifth series of Big Brother to air on Channel 5 since they acquired the show. The series was sponsored by hair product brand Schwarzkopf Live Color XXL. It was won by comedian Julian Clary, with television presenter Coleen Nolan as runner-up. First evictee, Jasmine Lennard, later appeared as a guest for a two-day stint on Big Brother 16.

The series launched on Channel 5 in the United Kingdom and TV3 in the Republic of Ireland on 12 May 2015 and ended on 16 July 2015, a week earlier than planned. This was the earliest launch of a Big Brother series since the show's inception in 2000. It is the fifth regular series and the thirteenth series of Big Brother overall to air on Channel 5, and is the first regular series to air in May since Big Brother 8 in 2007. It is also the first series to air in Ireland since its move to Channel 5 in 2011. On 2 February 2015, it was revealed that Willis had stepped down as a host on the show's spin-off series Big Brother's Bit on the Side, though Rylan Clark will continue.
The Circle, sometimes called The Circle UK, is a British reality television game show and the original version of The Circle franchise. Produced by Studio Lambert and Motion Content Group and airing on Channel 4, the show bills itself as a game based around social media, with the concept that "anyone can be anyone in The Circle". Throughout the show, contestants live in the same apartment building but are never allowed to meet. The show is narrated by Sophie Willan, whilst the first and last episode of the first series were hosted by Maya Jama and Alice Levine. The show has been compared to Big Brother and Catfish in format, as well as Black Mirror episode "Nosedive" with the concept of having to rate other people.
The Circle is an American reality competition series, produced by Studio Lambert and Motion Content Group, that first aired on Netflix in January 2020. It is based on the original British TV series of the same name. Alongside the American version of The Circle, Netflix also launched different versions in France and Brazil, as part of a partnership between Netflix and All3Media. The series bills itself as a game based around social media, with the concept that "anyone can be anyone in The Circle." It has been compared to Big Brother and Catfish in format, as well as Black Mirror episode "Nosedive" with the concept of ratings.
The Circle is a reality competition television franchise, first broadcast in the United Kingdom on Channel 4 in 2018, and subsequently syndicated internationally by Netflix. Each version in the franchise features contestants who live in different apartments in a complex that is isolated from the outside world. The players are continuously monitored during their stay in the apartments by cameras as well as personal audio microphones. Throughout the course of the competition, they are eliminated, or "blocked", until only one remains and wins the cash prize.
