Varge Mondar is a small village located in Sintra, Portugal, [1] which is well known for its unique architecture. The village is located between two train stations, Oeiras and Rio de Mouro.
The village has evolved into a community of single-family and luxury homes. Many of the small three-level buildings in the village were originally designed and built by Tabaqueria, the largest tobacco company in Portugal, for their employees. [2] Many of these houses belong to PI Workers and non-Portuguese employees of Philip Morris International, of which Tabaqueria is an affiliate.
The rest of the village is divided into three zones. The "Old Buildings" zone is located closest to the main commercial zone and public transportation, and the area is home to many affluent individuals. The zone of "Individual Homes" include mostly isolated, mid-range buildings, but also some luxury homes. The "New Buildings" zone include many lower-end structures with poor maintenance, and these buildings are home to more low-income workers.[ citation needed ]
The village has a single grammar school for children ages 6–10. Varge Mondar also boasts five coffee bars, two grocery stores, a dental clinic, a tax office and a Bank Totta branch. There is also a Community Group, although there have not been any members since early Philip Morris employees.[ citation needed ]
Because the town's population is composed entirely of Philip Morris employees and contractors, the only public transport is a singular bus system. Due to the village's low population, there are few public attractions or places for social gathering, save for a single park which, aside from exceptional construction, is relatively uninhabited and unkempt. Because it is necessary to travel in the village using cars or other vehicles, there is a surprisingly low population of homeless people.
The village is believed to be on its way to extinction, as it simply does not have the manpower or the need to be well-kept. Further, due to the lack of new businesses, schools or creation of local job opportunities other than Philip Morris Tabaqueria workers, the village does not provide much room for growth or expansion.[ citation needed ]
Arden is a village and art colony in New Castle County, Delaware, in the United States, founded in 1900 as a radical Georgist single-tax community by sculptor Frank Stephens and architect Will Price. The village occupies about 160 acres, with half kept as open land. According to the 2010 Census, the population of the village is 439. In 1973, the entire village was listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Bay Harbor Islands is a town in Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States. The population was 5,628 at the 2010 census. It is separated from the mainland by Biscayne Bay, over which the land masses are connected via the Broad Causeway. On the mainland side, Bay Harbor Islands is bordered by the city of North Miami, while to the east it borders the villages of Bal Harbour and Surfside. To the south lies the exclusive village of Indian Creek. Bay Harbor Islands is about 20 minutes' driving distance away from Miami International Airport, and it is situated between the larger cities of Aventura and Miami Beach.

In its modern form, a gated community is a form of residential community or housing estate containing strictly controlled entrances for pedestrians, bicycles, and automobiles, and often characterized by a closed perimeter of walls and fences. Praia da Luz, officially Luz, is a civil parish of the municipality of Lagos, in Algarve region, Portugal. The population of the civil parish in 2011 was 3,545, in an area of 21.78 km². Also known as Santorini de Portugal, Luz de Lagos or Vila da Luz, "Praia da Luz" is used to refer to both the urbanized village and the beach. The parish had its origins in a small fishing village, but was transformed by several holiday-villa complexes into a tourist area.
Sunnyside is an innercity community in Calgary, Alberta located on the north side of the Bow River immediately adjacent to Calgary's downtown. The community partners with the neighbouring community of Hillhurst to form the Hillhurst-Sunnyside Community Association. The combined communities have an area redevelopment plan in place, revised in 2009.
Poplar is a neighborhood in Lower North Philadelphia. It is located north of Callowhill, between Spring Garden/Fairmount and Northern Liberties, bounded roughly by Girard Avenue to the north, North Broad Street to the west, Spring Garden Street to the south, and 5th Street to the east. The neighborhood is mostly residential with commercial frontage on Broad Street and Girard Avenue and some industrial facilities to the west of the railroad tracks along Percy St. and 9th St.
Harbord Village is a neighbourhood in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It lies just to the west of the University of Toronto, with its most commonly accepted borders being Bloor Street on the north, Spadina Avenue on the east, College Street to the south, and Bathurst Street to the west. Areas west of Bathurst, as far as Ossington are also sometimes included, though they are not covered by the residents' association. The area was previously known as Sussex-Ulster, after two of the major east west streets in the area. In 2000 the residents' association decided to rename itself and the area Harbord Village, after the main street running through the middle of the community. The street's name origin is unclear but could be named for abolitionist Edward Harbord, 3rd Baron Suffield.
