Vasile Didea (born 1 April 1954) is a Romanian boxer. He competed in the men's light middleweight event at the 1976 Summer Olympics. [1]

Boxing combat sport

Boxing is a combat sport in which two people, usually wearing protective gloves, throw punches at each other for a predetermined amount of time in a boxing ring.

The men's light middleweight event was part of the boxing programme at the 1976 Summer Olympics. The weight class allowed boxers of up to 71 kilograms to compete. The competition was held from 22 to 31 July 1976. 23 boxers from 23 nations competed.

Michael Prevost is a retired amateur boxer, who represented Canada at the 1976 Summer Olympics. There he was disqualified in his first fight against Vasile Didea of Romania by an Australian referee. On being disqualified, he stomped around the ring for several minutes and would not leave. The referee was also later disqualified when he was found with a suspicious amount of money, that was not in his possession when entering Canada. Prevost won the silver medal at the 1975 Pan American Games.

Vasile Andrei is a retired heavyweight wrestler from Romania. He competed in Greco-Roman wrestling at the 1980, 1984 and 1988 Olympics and won a bronze medal in 1980 and a gold medal in 1984. At the 1984 Olympics he also placed sixth in freestyle wrestling, and in 1980 and 1988 served as flag bearer for Romania at the opening ceremony. At the world and European championships he won six medals in Greco-Roman wrestling between 1979 and 1987.

Vasile Tiţă was a Romanian amateur middleweight boxer. He won a silver medal at his first major international tournament, the 1952 Olympics, losing in the final to Floyd Patterson. After that he competed at the 1953, 1955 and 1957 European championships with the best result of reaching the quarterfinals in 1955. Domestically he won seven consecutive national titles in 1951–57, six in the 71 kg and one in the 75 kg division. He died aged 85 after suffering from Alzheimer’s disease for a decade.

Andrei Vasile Muntean is a Romanian male artistic gymnast and a member of the national team. He won gold medals on the parallel bars at the 2002 European Junior Championships and on the rings at the 2010 Summer Youth Olympics. Since his senior debut in 2011, Muntean appeared in every edition of the World Championships, and was eventually selected to compete, alongside his fellow gymnasts Marian Drăgulescu and Catalina Ponor, for the Romanian squad at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
