Vasyl Stankovych (Ukrainian : Василь Васильович Станкович, Russian : Василий Васильевич Станкович; born 25 April 1946) is a retired Ukrainian fencer. He competed at the 1968, 1972 and 1976 Olympics and won team silver medals in the foil in 1968 and 1972; in 1976 he placed fourth both individually and with the Soviet team. [1] [2] At the world championships Stankovych won five gold medals in the foil between 1969 and 1974.

He was the épée champion at the 1971 Fencing World Cup and won seventeen national titles over the course of his career. The men's foil was one of eight fencing events on the fencing at the 1972 Summer Olympics programme. It was the sixteenth appearance of the event. The competition was held from 29 to 30 August 1972. 57 fencers from 25 nations competed. Nations had been limited to three fencers each since 1928. The event was won by Witold Woyda of Poland, the nation's second victory in the men's foil in three Games. Jenő Kamuti of Hungary repeated as the silver medalist, the seventh man to win multiple medals in the event. France took bronze for the third consecutive Games, this time with Christian Noël earning the honor.

Vasyl Dmyrovych Rachyba is an amateur Ukrainian Greco-Roman wrestler, who played for the men's light heavyweight category. He defeated Russia's Alan Khugayev for the gold medal in his respective division at the 2011 European Wrestling Championships in Dortmund, Germany. Rachyba is also a member of the wrestling team for CSKA Kyiv, and is coached and trained by Yury Tsikolenko.

When the Fern Blooms is a folk opera by Ukrainian composer Yevhen Stankovych. It has three acts and was written in the mid-1970s. It was first performed on stage in 2011. The opera was also performed on December 15, 2017, at the Lviv Theatre of Opera and Ballet. The libretto of the opera was primarily inspired by the works of Nikolai Gogol, national traditions and folklore, folk ceremonies, and epic poems.
