Vatsan Chakravarthi is an Indian actor, who has appeared in Tamil language films. He has appeared in films including Engaeyum Eppothum (2011) and Tharkappu (2016). [1]

Career

Vatsan debuted as an actor with Aridhu Aridhu (2010), before working on AR Murugadoss's production Engaeyum Eppothum (2011), in which he portrayed a bus passenger who falls in love with a fellow traveller. He subsequently appeared in Rasu Madhuravan's Pandi Oliperukki Nilayam (2012) and in another Murugadoss production, Vathikuchi (2013), where he portrayed a negative role. He played his first lead role in R. K. Kalaimani's Apple Penne (2013), where he worked with actresses Iswarya Menon and Roja. [2] The film had a low key release and received negative reviews from critics. [3] [4] In mid-2013, he also worked on a single track titled "Thalapathy Anthem", which he dedicated to actor Vijay. Vatsan was absent from the film industry throughout 2014, after suffering from dengue fever. His next release was Ravi's Tharkappu (2016), where he appeared alongside Shakthi Vasudevan and Samuthirakani. [8] [9]

He had 4 releases in 2019 including his Telugu debut, Kalavu with Kalaiarasan and Lokesh Kanagaraj's Kaithi followed by Nikhil's Arjun Suravaram . His 2022 release Kuruthi Aattam as the antagonist with Atharvaa opened to mixed reviews and he was nominated for best villain,most of the critics praised Vatsan for his appeal and screen presence.

Vathikuchi (transl. Matchstick) is a 2013 Indian Tamil-language action thriller film written and directed by newcomer P. Kinslin and produced by A. R. Murugadoss in association with Fox Star Studios. The film stars Dileepan, the younger brother of Murugadoss, in his acting debut and Anjali, while Jayaprakash, Sampath Raj and Jagan appear in supporting roles. The film, which has music composed by Ghibran, opened in March 2013 to a positive response from critics and performed well at the box office.

Kaththi (transl. Knife) is a 2014 Indian Tamil-language action drama film written and directed by AR Murugadoss and produced by Lyca Productions. The film stars Vijay in a dual role with Samantha, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Tota Roy Chowdhury, and Sathish. It focuses on Kathiresan, a petty thief and lookalike of Jeevanantham, who assumes the identity and attempts to lead a rebellion by farmers from the latter's village, Thanoothu, and helps them fight against an entrepreneur who exploited Thanoothu's water resources.

Vijay is an Indian actor who works in Tamil cinema. He made his cinematic debut in 1984 with Vetri, directed by his father, Chandrasekhar. After appearing in Chandrasekhar's films as a child artist, Vijay made his debut as a lead actor with Naalaiya Theerpu (1992) at the age of 18. He followed it with a role opposite Vijayakanth in Senthoorapandi (1993). Vijay went on to play lead roles in his father's directorial ventures such as Rasigan (1994) and Deva (1995). Theri is a 2016 Indian Tamil-language action thriller film directed by Atlee and produced by Kalaipuli S. Thanu under the banner V Creations. Inspired by Mani Ratnam's film Chatriyan, the film stars Vijay, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Amy Jackson, Nainika, Radhika Sarathkumar, Rajendran and Mahendran. The music was composed by G. V. Prakash Kumar, with cinematography handled by George C. Williams and editing by Ruben. In the film, a former cop is on a mission to protect his daughter from his past enemies.

Apple Penne is a 2013 Indian Tamil-language romantic drama film directed by R. K. Kalaimani. The film stars Vatsan and Aishwarya Menon, while Roja plays a pivotal role.

SKxARM and SK23 are the working titles of an upcoming Indian Tamil-language action thriller film written and directed by AR Murugadoss. It is produced by N. V. Prasad under Sri Lakshmi Movies. The film stars Sivakarthikeyan and Rukmini Vasanth in the lead roles, alongside Vidyut Jammwal, Biju Menon, Vikranth, Sachana Namidass and Sanjay.
