Murray is a city situated on the Wasatch Front in the core of Salt Lake Valley in the U.S. state of Utah. Named for territorial governor Eli Murray,the city had a population of 50,637 as of the 2020 United States Census. Murray shares borders with Taylorsville,Holladay,South Salt Lake,Millcreek and West Jordan,Utah. Once teeming with heavy industry,Murray's industry mix has now shifted significantly toward healthcare,retail,and professional,scientific,and technical services. Known for its central location in Salt Lake County,Murray has been called the Hub of Salt Lake County. Unlike most of its neighboring communities,Murray operates its own police,fire,power,water,library,and parks and recreation departments and has its own school district. While maintaining many of its own services,Murray has one of the lowest city tax rates in the state.
Thomas Spencer Monson was an American religious leader,author,and the 16th president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As president,he was considered by adherents of the religion to be a prophet,seer,and revelator. Monson's early career was as a manager at the Deseret News,a Utah newspaper owned by the LDS Church. He spent most of his life engaged in various church leadership positions and public service.
Abraham Owen Woodruff was an American missionary who was a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was also the son of LDS Church president Wilford Woodruff.

He has also served on the Murray Community Education Program,the University of Utah Recreation and Parks Advisory Board,the Murray Boys and Girls Club Advisory Board and the Murray United Way Board. Pett was born in Eureka,Utah and graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in Biology.
John W. Gallivan was an American newspaper publisher,cable television pioneer,and civic leader. A major figure in the promotion and development of Salt Lake City and Utah's ski industry,he was instrumental in starting the campaign to bring the 2002 Olympic Winter Games to Salt Lake City. Using his position as publisher of the Salt Lake Tribune,"Jack" Gallivan was the driving force behind numerous civic improvement and development projects including the Salt Palace,the Salt Lake Arts Center,Symphony Hall,The Capitol Theatre,and the promotion of light rail. His many contributions to the economic and cultural life of the city were recognized by the community in the naming of the John W. Gallivan Plaza near the center of downtown.
William E. Dunn was elected mayor of Murray,Utah for two four-year terms during 1965-1970,and elected as a Salt Lake County Commissioner from 1970 to 1979. Ernest was son of local businessman William Smith who owned the Murray Meat and Grocery store and whom later oversaw the store.
Brent Ferrin Ashworth is an American historical document dealer who specializes in Mormon history. He has assisted the Glenn Beck organization,the LDS Church History Library,Brigham Young University (BYU) Library Special Collections,the Utah Valley University (UVU) Library Special Collections,State History Division,including the Utah State Archives and other major institutions. He has recently assisted Beck with his first three history museums,starting with "Man in the Moon" at the Grand America Hotel in Salt Lake City,over the July 4th holiday in 2013,and the Fiftieth Anniversary of the Kennedy Assassination in conjunction with the Mercury One Convention at the Omni Hotel in Dallas,Texas,in November 2013. Ashworth has donated many books and other items in his collection to the LDS Church and his items have been displayed at the Crandall Historical Printing Museum in Provo,Utah.
