On 28 February 1986, at 23:21 CET, Olof Palme, Prime Minister of Sweden, was fatally wounded by a single gunshot while walking home from a cinema with his wife Lisbeth Palme on the central Stockholm street Sveavägen. Lisbeth Palme was slightly wounded by a second shot. The couple did not have bodyguards with them.

She has starred as Anna Svensson in Solsidan since 2010.
Martin Melin, is a Swedish author, police officer, politician and former television personality, and the world's first winner of the TV reality series Expedition Robinson in 1997. Melin has been Member of the Swedish Parliament since August 2023, representing Stockholm Municipality. He previously replaced Joar Forssell as Member of the Swedish Parliament during the latters leave of absence from 31 October 2022 to 30 April 2023.
Leif Bruno Axmyr was a Swedish convicted criminal. At the time of his release in 2016, he had been imprisoned longer than any other Swedish inmate who had served a life sentence. In May 1982, Axmyr was on leave from prison when he killed his ex-girlfriend and her male friend. He was sentenced to life imprisonment for the double murder and other offences. In 1997, the newspaper Svenska Dagbladet stated that Axmyr was Sweden's longest-serving prisoner in a Swedish prison. Örebro district court commuted his life sentence to 51 years in 2013; he was released on 2 June 2016 after serving 34 years in prison.
Rape in Sweden has a legal definition described in Chapter 6 in the Swedish Penal Code. Historically, rape has been defined as forced sexual intercourse initiated against a woman or man by one or several people, without consent. In recent years, several revisions to the definition of rape have been made to the law of Sweden, to include not only intercourse but also comparable sexual acts against someone incapable of giving consent, due to being in a vulnerable situation, such as a state of fear or unconsciousness.

Karin Signhild Hermansson, better known as Kakan Hermansson, is a Swedish television presenter, radio host, comedian and artist. She has had her own television show on Sveriges Television (SVT) called Kaka på Kaka and has worked on shows for both Sveriges Radio and TV4. A graduate of the Stockholm art academy Konstfack, she works with a feminist art collective and has exhibited her art in various places. She calls herself a radical feminist.

Stig Folke Wilhelm Engström was a Swedish graphic designer. Long treated by police as an eyewitness to the assassination of Prime Minister Olof Palme, Engström was separately proposed as Palme's assassin by the Swedish writers Lars Larsson and Thomas Pettersson.
The double murder of 8-year-old Mohammed Ammouri and 56-year-old Anna-Lena Svensson happened on 19 October 2004 in Linköping, Sweden. Both where stabbed to death at Åsgatan in Linköping. The murders remained unsolved and with no suspects for 16 years until the new method of ancestorial DNA was used. In June 2020, a suspect was arrested and later found guilty of the murders and sentenced to psychiatric care indefinitely. It was the first time in Swedish history that the method of ancestorial DNA was used to solve any murder or other crime in Sweden.
22-year-old Helena Andersson disappeared on 14 June 1992 in Mariestad, Sweden. Since then, several suspects in her disappearance have been arrested, and later released without charge. The disappearance has received extensive media attention since 1992.
Leif Peter Gunnar Persson is a Swedish politician and former member of the Riksdag, the national legislature. A member of the Social Democratic Party, he represented Jönköping County between October 2010 and August 2020.
