Vemulawada Bheemakavi is a 1976 Indian Telugu-language biographical film, produced by N. T. Rama Rao under his Ramakrishna Cine Studios banner and directed by D. Yoganand. It stars N. T. Rama Rao, Nandamuri Balakrishna and music composed by Pendyala Nageswara Rao. ^{[2] [3]}

Plot

The film is based on the life of Vemulawada Bheemakavi, a famous Telugu poet of the 9th century. Wherever superstitions prevail, atrocities hike under the aegis of religion, great souls are born to protect piety. One among them is Vemulawada Bheemakavi. Machamma, a child widow, toils at her brother's residence. Indeed, she is knitted to an old man who desires to possess' children but dies before it. So, Machamma innocently bestowed a boon to fulfill her husband's wish by praying to the lord at Bhimeshwara temple in Vemulawada, and she conceived. Thus, society accuses her, yet she gives birth to a baby boy, Bheema, who has been ostracized. Years roll by, and Bheema spots his fellow outcasts. They are oppressed when he states that all humans are equal and starts debating in the streets. Following, Bheema reaches "Kaalipuja," where he is necked out as illicit progeny. So, Bheema questions his mother; then she replies to question Bhimeshwara. Immediately, he encounters the lord, who proclaims him legitimate and grants bonuses that his word come true. Now, Bheema lands at the ritual ground of reputed poets and says that rice becomes lime, sweet becomes a frog, which occurs. As a result, all the classics bow their head down, affirming Machamma as a noble. Following this, Bhimakavi hikes to many kingdoms and performs miracles. At a point, the King dies before crowning his son Kalinga Gangu, where various enormities create mayhem in the domain. During that plight, Bhimakavi enters when the Kalinga Gangu refuses to see. In that rage, Bhimakavi curses that the King will lose his kingdom in 32 days, which turns true. After a while, Bhimakavi sympathizes with his pathetic situation and assures him he will retrieve his kingdom by the next full moon day. The rest of the story is what happens right now.
