Venice Theatre is a community theatre in Venice, Florida, United States. [1]
The theatre operates at one of the former buildings of the Kentucky Military Institute. [2] KMI closed its Venice campus in 1971 and Venice Theatre acquired the building on 140 West Tampa Avenue in 1973 for $78,000 (equivalent to $409,000in 2023) and converting the building to a theatre required an additional $225,000 (equivalent to $1,179,000in 2023).
The theater suffered extensive damage in September 2022 due to heavy rain and winds from Hurricane Ian. [3]

Hurricane Catarina, or Cyclone Catarina was an extraordinarily rare South Atlantic tropical cyclone, the only hurricane-strength storm on record in the South Atlantic Ocean. In Maryland and Washington, D.C., the effects of Hurricane Isabel were among the most damaging from a tropical cyclone in the respective metropolitan area. Hurricane Isabel formed from a tropical wave on September 6, 2003, in the tropical Atlantic Ocean. It moved northwestward, and within an environment of light wind shear and warm waters, it steadily strengthened to reach peak winds of 165 miles per hour (266 km/h) on September 11. After fluctuating in intensity for four days, Isabel gradually weakened and made landfall on the Outer Banks of North Carolina with winds of 105 miles per hour (169 km/h) on September 18. It quickly weakened over land and became extratropical over western Pennsylvania the next day.

The 1943 Tulsa Golden Hurricane team represented the University of Tulsa during the 1943 college football season. In their third year under head coach Henry Frnka, the Golden Hurricane compiled a 6–0–1 record in the regular season, including lopsided victories over SMU (20-7), Texas Tech (34-7), Oklahoma (20-6), Utah (55-0), Oklahoma State (55-6), and Arkansas (61-0). They lost to Georgia Tech, 20–18, in the 1944 Sugar Bowl.

Despite having an average number of named storms, it became the third-costliest Atlantic hurricane season on record, behind only 2017 and 2005, mostly due to Hurricane Ian. The season officially began on June 1, and ended on November 30. These dates, adopted by convention, historically describe the period in each year when most subtropical or tropical cyclogenesis occurs in the Atlantic Ocean. This year's first Atlantic named storm, Tropical Storm Alex, developed five days after the start of the season, making this the first season since 2014 not to have a pre-season named storm.
Hurricane Ian was a deadly and extremely destructive Category 5 Atlantic hurricane, which was the third-costliest weather disaster on record worldwide, the deadliest hurricane to strike the state of Florida since the 1935 Labor Day hurricane, and the strongest hurricane to make landfall in Florida since Michael in 2018. Ian caused widespread damage across western Cuba, Florida, and the Carolinas. Ian was the ninth named storm, fourth hurricane, and second major hurricane of the 2022 Atlantic hurricane season. Ian was the first Category 5 hurricane in the Atlantic since Lorenzo in 2019.
