Venla was a Finnish television award. It was awarded annually between 1982 and 2010, after which it was replaced by the Golden Venla gala and award.
The drama and entertainment judges award prizes in eleven categories. Yleisövenla ("Public Venla") is selected by the public. Additionally both kinds of judges may award a Special Venla. Thus, 12–14 Venlas are awarded every year, often 13.
The five biggest Finnish television channels take part in the event: Yle TV1, Yle TV2, MTV3, Nelonen, and Yle Fem.
The Venla Gala is arranged every January by one of the partaking channels.
Yleisradio Oy (Finnish), literally General Radio or General Broadcast; Swedish: Rundradion Ab; English: Finnish Broadcasting Company; abbr. Yle, is Finland's national public broadcasting company, founded in 1926. It is a joint-stock company which is 99.98% owned by the Finnish state, and employs around 3,200 people in Finland. The Rose d'Or is an international awards festival in entertainment broadcasting and programming. Eurovision first acquired the Rose d’Or in 1961, when it was created by Swiss Television in the lakeside city of Montreux. The awards stayed with Eurovision for almost 40 years. Eurovision re-acquired the awards in 2013 and successfully re-launched the event that year in Brussels, then relocated to Berlin from 2014 to 2018.
Yle TV2 is a Finnish television channel owned and operated by Yle. TV2 was launched in 1965 as the successor to the former television channels TES-TV (Tesvisio) and Tamvisio, and broadcasts public service programming, sports, drama, children's, youth, and music programmes. With Yle TV1, it is one of the main television channels of Yle.
The Asian Television Awards is an appreciation to recognize and reward programming and production excellence in the Asian television industry. Held every December, the Awards comprises 56 categories across news, documentaries & current affairs, kids and animation, entertainment, drama, technical, digital as well as performances including acting and directing. The Awards draw about 1,400 entries each year from a wide range of broadcasters, including free-to-air TV stations, pay-TV platforms, OTT plaforms as well as many independent production houses in Asia. Every year, a panel of more than 50 judges from more than 10 countries evaluate and select the entries. The winners are then awarded across 3 evenings: a Gala Dinner in Kuching for the technical and creative categories followed by a live telecast the next day for the entertainment and acting categories, also in Kuching. The digital awards are presented separately in another country.
The BAFTA TV Awards, or British Academy Television Awards are presented in an annual award show hosted by the BAFTA. They have been awarded annually since 1955.
Julmahuvi is the name of a group of comedic actors which created several comical TV-series and mockumentaries for the Finnish TV-channels Yle TV1 and MTV3. Julmahuvi collectively are Tommi Korpela, Jukka Rasila, Janne Reinikainen, Petteri Summanen and Jani Volanen.
Aku Louhimies is a Finnish film director and screenwriter. He has directed feature films, documentary films, commercials and music videos. His international breakthrough was the 2016 serial drama Rebellion. He has directed and produced Unknown Soldier which is the most expensive feature film ever made in Finland.
Se on siinä was a Finnish humorous television sports quiz show shown on Sunday nights on YLE TV2 from 2001 to 2009. It was awarded the Venla-award for the best entertainment program voted by TV-viewers.
Star Awards 2007 was a television award ceremony held in Singapore. It is part of the annual Star Awards organised by MediaCorp for MediaCorp TV Channel 8. It was the first Star Awards ceremony to be broadcast in two weeks putting emphasis on two programmes; the first ceremony, broadcast on 9 December 2007, titled 红星大奖之戏剧情牵25, commentating 25 years of drama in the Television in Singapore. The second show, airing 16 December 2007, would be a regular ceremony.
Madventures is a Finnish travel documentary television program that concentrates on backpacking in the most off-the-beaten-path destinations on the planet. It is presented by Riku Rantala and Tuomas "Tunna" Milonoff. As the show's director and cameramen, they travel around the world exploring different cultures. They emphasize that they are on a journey, not on a holiday. The show often features local practices that are culturally unacceptable or controversial where the episodes air, to the point where the showmakers have been accused of deliberate, excessive use of shock imagery.
The Indian Telly Awards is an annual award for excellence both on-screen and behind-the-scenes of television in India. Conceptualised and created by Anil Wanvari, the founder, CEO of media and services group, indiantelevision.com, they are in their 12th edition currently. Wanvari is also on the board of the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, and has been a semi-final judging host for the awards since 2006. The awards for Indian television are given in several categories such as best programme or series in a specific genre, most popular actors and awards for technical roles such as writers and directors. The awards are currently managed by a division within indiantelevision.com called ITV2.0 Productions.
Hum Awards are annual Pakistani accolades bestowed by the Hum Network Limited in recognition of excellence in programming of television, fashion and music industry of Pakistan. Winners are awarded the Hum Award of Merit. The awards were first presented in 2013 at a ceremony held at the Karachi Expo Centre.
#lovemilla is a Finnish teen television drama. The plot revolves around 17-year-old Milla, who works at Café Robot. Milla and her friends spend their days in a cafeteria of an unnamed small town – a very familiar setting for the target audience in Finland. #lovemilla is a comedic teen drama, but it deals with difficult matters such as drugs, sex and death. Series won the best children's and youth program award at the Kultainen Venla 2013.
The Finnish Television Academy organizes the Golden Venla competition and gala. The Golden Venla Awards recognize the year's best Finnish television programs, their creators and performers. The Golden Venlas are voted on by members of the Academy - professionals working in the industry. It replaced the Venla award (1982-2010).
Pyjama Party is a Finnish sketch comedy starring Niina Lahtinen, Pirjo Heikkilä, Sanna Stellan, Krisse Salminen, Joonas Nordman and Jarkko Niemi. Pyjama Party is scripted by the director Anna Dahlman with the actresses and composed by Katja Lappi.
Jukka Jalmari Virtanen was a Finnish entertainer and author. He worked as both a film and television director, actor and host. He was also an accomplished songwriter. Starting originally as a newspaper columnist, Virtanen began his television career in the 1950s and his film career in the 1960s.
Bordertown is a Finnish crime drama and Nordic noir television series created by Miikko Oikkonen and starring Ville Virtanen as Detective Inspector Kari Sorjonen. It premiered in Finland on 16 October 2016 on Yle TV1. Season 2 premiered on 7 October 2018, and season 3 premiered in December 2019. In addition to its home country, the series has received praise internationally; fans of the series include American author Stephen King, among others.
Ihmisten puolue was a Finnish political satire television series that was broadcast on Yle TV1 from August 30, 2008 to May 29, 2010. The series was produced by Filmiteollisuus. It was directed by Atte Järvinen and written by Järvinen and Reino Portimo.

Moominvalley is a 2019 Finnish-British animated family drama musical series. An adaptation of the classic Moomin books and comics by writer-illustrator Tove Jansson and her brother Lars Jansson, it is created using new techniques in 3D CGI.
