Elisa Miller Encinas is a Mexican award-winning film director, writer, and producer. She is the first and only Mexican female filmmaker to win the Golden Palm for a short fiction feature at the Cannes Film Festival. Her first short film Ver Llover was nationally and internationally awarded in 2007.

Later that year it won the prize of Best Fiction Short Film at Havana Film Festival, it was a nominee for Best Short Film at Dokufest, it won a Gold Hugo at Chicago Film Festival, it was nominated for Live Action Short Film at AFI Fest and it was nominated for Best Fiction Short Film at Guanajuato International Film Festival. 2017 was a successful year too for the film since it won the awards Best Fiction Short Film and Best Actress at Bogotá Film Festival and was nominated for Best Short Film at Premios Macondo.
El héroe is a 1994 Mexican animated short film written and directed by Carlos Carrera. It won the Short Film Palme d'Or at the 1994 Cannes Film Festival. It was the first Mexican film to win the Short Film Palme d'Or and it is considered a milestone in Mexican animation.
