Mar del Plata is a city on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean, in Buenos Aires Province, Argentina. It is the seat of General Pueyrredón district. Mar del Plata is the second largest city in Buenos Aires Province. The name "Mar del Plata" is short for "Mar del Río de la Plata," and means "sea of the Río de la Plata basin" or "adjoining sea to the (River) Plate region." Mar del Plata is one of the major fishing ports and the biggest seaside beach resort in Argentina. With a population of 682,605 as per the 2022 census [INDEC], it is the 5th largest city in Argentina.
The Estadio José María Minella is a stadium in the city of Mar del Plata, Argentina. It is owned and administrated by the Municipality of General Pueyrredón. Inaugurated for the 1978 FIFA World Cup hosted by Argentina, the stadium is currently used by local clubs Alvarado and Aldosivi to play their home matches.
The 2001 Rugby World Cup Sevens was the third edition of the Rugby World Cup Sevens and was held in Mar del Plata, Argentina. New Zealand defeated Australia to win the tournament for the first time. All the matches were played at José María Minella Stadium.

Autovía 2 Juan Manuel Fangio is an Argentine dual carriageway, which runs from Buenos Aires to Mar del Plata. The road was a National Route until 1990 when it was transferred to the Government of Buenos Aires Province. The Autovía 2 extends from the junction of Provincial Routes 1 and 36 and National Route A004, just on the traffic circle "Juan María Gutiérrez", which is the limit of Berazategui and Florencio Varela districts.

Opened in 2009 as a bus terminus only, the railway tracks from the old "Norte" station were extended to connect both terminals in 2011 by architect Claudio Luis Lucarelli, adding new platforms to receive trains from Buenos Aires.
María Esther Corán was an Argentine actress. She starred in films such Fúlmine (1949), El nieto de Congreve (1949), La melodía perdida (1952), Marta Ferrari (1956) and El ayudante (1971). One of her best known roles was in the 1961 TV series Viendo a Biondi, co-starring Pepe Biondi. In 1997, she was honored with the Día del Actor award for her 50-year career.

The Estadio General San Martín was a stadium located in the city of Mar del Plata, Argentina. Owned by Liga Marplatense de Fútbol, it was inaugurated in 1952 being the main venue in the city. Most of the most important matches of Mar del Plata football league were hosted there, as well as some friendly matches of the Argentina national football team. Brazilian team Santos FC played four matches at the stadium.
Elvira Aldao de Díaz was an Argentine writer of the Generation of 80. She was born in Rosario, into a military family. She spent her formative years in Buenos Aires before moving back to Rosario, where she became familiar with local writers and artists. Her family also had property in Mar del Plata where she spent many summers. In 1912 she travelled to Europe, spending several years there before returning to Argentina. She died in Mar del Plata in 1950.
