Mar del Plata is a city on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean, in Buenos Aires Province, Argentina. It is the seat of General Pueyrredón district. Mar del Plata is the second largest city in Buenos Aires Province. The name "Mar del Plata" is a shortening of "Mar del Rio de la Plata," and has the meaning of "sea of the Rio de la Plata basin" or "adjoining sea to the (River) Plate region". Mar del Plata is one of the major fishing ports and the biggest seaside beach resort in Argentina. With a population of 682,605 as per the 2022 census [INDEC], it is the 5th largest city in Argentina.
The Estadio José María Minella is a stadium in the city of Mar del Plata, Argentina. It is owned and administrated by the Municipality of General Pueyrredón. Inaugurated for the 1978 FIFA World Cup hosted by Argentina, the stadium is currently used by local clubs Alvarado and Aldosivi to play their home matches.
José Manuel Donoso Yáñez, known as José Donoso, was a Chilean writer, journalist and professor. He lived most of his life in Chile, although he spent many years in self-imposed exile in Mexico, the United States and Spain. Although he had left his country in the sixties for personal reasons, after 1973 he said his exile was also a form of protest against the dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet. He returned to Chile in 1981 and lived there until his death.

The exam is required by universities in Argentina for foreigners and it is also accepted as a valid exam in Brazil and China.

The tournament was held in Argentina between 5 and 25 January 1999, the 23rd time the competition had been held and the 2nd to take place in the country. Autovía 2 Juan Manuel Fangio is an Argentine dual carriageway, which runs from Buenos Aires to Mar del Plata. The road was a National Route until 1990 when it was transferred to the Government of Buenos Aires Province. The Autovía 2 extends from the junction of Provincial Routes 1 and 36 and National Route A004, just on the traffic circle "Juan María Gutiérrez", which is the limit of Berazategui and Florencio Varela districts.

Opened in 2009 as a bus terminus only, the railway tracks from the old "Norte" station were extended to connect both terminals in 2011 by architect Claudio Luis Lucarelli, adding new platforms to receive trains from Buenos Aires.
María Esther Corán was an Argentine actress. She starred in films such Fúlmine (1949), El nieto de Congreve (1949), La melodía perdida (1952), Marta Ferrari (1956) and El ayudante (1971). One of her best known roles was in the 1961 TV series Viendo a Biondi, co-starring Pepe Biondi. In 1997 she was honored with the Día del Actor award for her 50-year career.

Elvira Aldao de Díaz was an Argentine writer of the Generation of 80. She was born in Rosario, into a military family. She spent her formative years in Buenos Aires before moving back to Rosario, where she became familiar with local writers and artists. Her family also had property in Mar del Plata where she spent many summers. In 1912 she travelled to Europe, spending several years there before returning to Argentina. She died in Mar del Plata in 1950.
