History
Since 1991, the Vero Beach Museum of Art has been recognized by the State of Florida and the Florida Arts Council as a significant cultural establishment through grant awards and support. The museum was awarded accreditation from the American Alliance of Museums in April 1997. It became recognized for its professionalism, quality of programming, exhibitions, and community outreach. The museum was reaccredited in April 2007.
In 2002, the museum's Board of Trustees voted to change the institution's name from the Center for the Arts to the Vero Beach Museum of Art, which went into effect on July 1, 2002.
In February 2007, the museum added the Alice and Jim Beckwith Sculpture Park, which is 1.12 acres (4,500 m2), to its exhibition spaces. [4]
In January 2018, the museum opened the Art Zone a new interactive Children's Space, which features hands-on activities to encourage children to play and explore as well as a 25-foot-long interactive Sketch Aquarium.

The Polk Museum of Art at Florida Southern College is a private, non-profit, and nationally accredited art museum in Lakeland, Florida. It is a member of the Florida Association of Museums, is ranked among the top art museums in the state of Florida, and is a Smithsonian Affiliate. Admission to the museum is free to the general public. On June 1, 2017, the Polk Museum of Art, a private community museum, entered an affiliation agreement with Florida Southern College in order to advance the mission of both entities and better serve the community.

Appeal to the Great Spirit is a 1908 equestrian statue by Cyrus Dallin, located in front of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. It portrays a Native American on horseback facing skyward, his arms spread wide in a spiritual request to the Great Spirit. It was the last of Dallin's four prominent sculptures of Indigenous people known as The Epic of the Indian, which also include A Signal of Peace (1890), The Medicine Man (1899), and Protest of the Sioux (1904).

Therman Statom is an American Studio Glass artist whose primary medium is sheet glass. He cuts, paints, and assembles the glass - adding found glass objects along the way – to create three-dimensional sculptures. Many of these works are large in scale. Statom is known for his site-specific installations in which his glass structures dwarf the visitor. Sound and projected digital imagery are also features of the environmental works.

The sculpture is in situ and is open to the public 24/7, 365 days a year.
