Vetelino Nau is a Wallisian politician and former member of the Territorial Assembly of Wallis and Futuna. He was President of the Territorial Assembly from April to November 2012.
Nau is from Alu in Futuna and was a schoolteacher before entering politics. [1] He was first elected to the Territorial Assembly in the 1997 election. [2] In 2002 he was a founder of the People's Union for Wallis and Futuna (UPFW). [3]
He contested wallis and Futuna's senate seat in the 2008 French Senate election,losing to Robert Laufoaulu by 8 votes to 13. [4] He was re-elected to the Territorial Assembly at the 2012 election [5] and elected as president of the assembly,becoming the first Socialist to hold the position. [1] [2] He was replaced by Sosefo Suve in November 2012.
He contested the 2014 French Senate election,but again lost to Robert Laufoaulu,this time by 7 votes to 15. [6] Following the election he failed to present accounts of his campaign expenses,and was barred from office for a year. [7]
He was not re-elected at the 2017 election.

Politics of Wallis and Futuna takes place in a framework of a parliamentary representative democratic French overseas collectivity,whereby the President of the Territorial Assembly is the head of government,and of a multi-party system. Executive power is exercised by the government.
The Territorial Assembly of Wallis and Futuna is the legislature of Wallis and Futuna. It consists of 20 members,elected for a five-year term by proportional representation in multi-seat constituencies. The Assembly sits in Mata Utu,the capital of the territory.
Territorial Assembly elections were held in Wallis and Futuna on 1 April 2007. Of the twenty-six lists contesting the election,twenty won one seat each in an election that has been described as "having elected members along mainly clan lines". Three new members were elected,and turnout was 71 per cent.
Legislative elections for the Territorial Assembly were held in Wallis and Futuna on 10 March 2002. 32 lists contested the vote. The result was a victory for the coalition of Rally for the Republic and Voice of the Wallis and Futuna Peoples,which won 13 of the 20 seats. Following the election Patalione Kanimoa was re-elected as President of the Territorial Assembly by 12 votes to 7,with one member absent due to illness.
Robert Laufoaulu is a Wallisian politician. He represented Wallis and Futuna in the Senate of France from 1998 to 2020.

Nivaleta Iloai is a politician from Wallis and Futuna. She served as the president of the Territorial Assembly of Wallis and Futuna from April 1 to December 11,2013;she was the first woman to hold that position. She is a member of the Union socialiste pour Wallis-et-Futuna,and represented the constituency of Hihifo. She was replaced as president by Petelo Hanisi. She was again elected president of the Territorial Assembly on November 26,2020.
